Default Those of you with Nismo Z, have you guys lowered your Z?

i am in the process of getting a set of coilover to replace my the stock suspension on the nismo Z...

but i am sort of worried about the ground clearance of the nismo Z when it's lowered on coilovers...

i don't wanna scratch the nismo body kit every time i go over bumpers or steeps...

Can you guys give me some tips as to by how much inches should i drop the front and rear of the car? and it won't give me too much of problems in terms of ground clearance.....

million thanks~~~

I am running HKS coilovers with an Inch or so drop! Slight wedge. aka lower in the front. It does limit access and caution should be taken! But the look/benefit is awesome! Car handles alot better in the mountains for me.

I think I jinxed myself... Over the weekend I hit a huge dead porcupine which did damage to my shield around the area below the drivers seat. Popped the rivets. The plastic piece was dragging on the ground. Luckily no damage to my exhaust.

I need to get the car up on a lift and see how everything looks. Bunch of needles jammed up in areas under the car. Lucky to report no body damage. I'll call the dealer this week and see if I can get an estimate over the phone.

Lower at your own RISK! I'm always cautious where I take my car. This was something that couldn't be avoided.

Same kinda thing happened to me back when I first got my car! Hit a dead racoon. Splatered blood and guts all over under the car and all over my week old hks exhaust! Man o man did it did it smell! It also knocked a side of that plastic thing off. Good thing it's held up only with a few of those plastic pins. Oh and this happened before I lowered the car so that had nothing to do with it.

guys..thanks for the input...that's exactly what i am scared of.....i have amuse R1 exhaust..and i don't wanna damage it when the car is lowered.....but i bought tein Flex with EDFC and they've been sitting in my storage for quite a while....i need to get the FLEX installed...

no other choices....

i guess i will take the risk..and take extra care when i am driving around...

but the problem is...how much i should drop my ride? 1 inch all round??? or less than 1 inch???

imo don't go lower than 1 inch... you're from toronto, no? There's tons of **** I *barely* clear at stock height, I think that inch is pretty much more or less all that saves me lol.

Mine is still on stock suspension and will stay that way.

Even at stock height, I still have trouble with speed bumps and driveways. Also, EVERY lowered car I've seen always has messed up front ends, side skirts, etc., and I do not want to damage the Nismo V3 bodywork (as you all are aware, they're not cheap to repair or replace).

but i will definitely face some problem when the car is lowered...

as i said i got no other choices but to lower it since i've invested in TEIN FLEX and EDFC....

i don't wanna damge my V3 bumper either.....

If you're gonna freak out about it, don't do it.

The bumper is urethane, it'll take quite a bit of abuse. If you scrape or rub on anything, it's most likely going to be plastic splitter on the underside of the bumper. Big deal. If you bump it into a parking block, you'll probably stress some things and maybe crack the paint (if you hit it hard enough), but if it's not too hard, it won't really damage anything. If you do need to replace the front bumper it's about $500 bucks. It's not really that much more than a bumper for the standard car (just unlikely you'll be able to find a used one so you can save a few bucks; you'll be paying for a new one). What's expensive is buying all the little items that make the V3 bumper fit on the car, which you already have.

It's not that likely that you're going to destroy your bumper and your splitter if you're careful. If you do, it's probably because you were in a proper accident and not because you scraped pulling into a driveway or going over "speed-humps".

I personally would not lower mine. In New England I have trouble with my car at stock height getting in and out of elevated parking lots and sloped driveways.

But that bumper can take a bit of abuse. I've scraped it pretty seriously a few times and it just flexes. However the paint started to web a little under my 3M tape.

Just think about your normal travels and if you commonly have raised, lowered, or just any uneven entrances and exits such as driveways, steep hills, parking garages etc. If not than best of luck to you
