Default Glad I got a Nismo 350Z... instead of the 370

For any of you who get car and driver they did a write up about why they crashed a Nismo 370Z into a wall at VIR.

They claimed that Nissan skimped on the brakes on both the Nismo and regular 370Z.

Then Nissan's reasoning for the crappy brakes was that they wanted a low dust/low noise pad....

Car and Driver was like WTF its a performance version what the hell is wrong with you Nissan.

I don't know if its a good thing or bad, but I was smiling thinking that they did the Nismo 350Z right.

Two toned paint
Seam welds
Brembo Brakes!

and my car doesn't overheat when I drive it hard.

Also: seems like threads keep getting deleted from the Nismo 370Z section. There are only like 3 in there now

Yeah, I didn't realize from the original article, that they actually totalled the car. They didn't make it sound that serious at first. C&D also is bitching about the brakes on thier long-termer. Either they are way abusive, or Nissan kinda skimped.

Honestly though, stock brakes on the 350 Nismo still suck (stock pads at least).

Nismo version was launched after 4 years since 350z first appearance, right? And the Nismo 370z was launched one year after the regular 370z appeared??? LOL....

I am very glad and happy that I purchased a NISMO 350z and proud to be the only owner here in Paraguay... probably the only one in all SOUTH AMERICA.

The 350 is a much better looking car imho. Nissan butchered the 370, if you want the "retro" look get a 240.. :-)..

Forget performance. The first thing wrong with a 370 is its dreadful appearance. Before you drive one, you have to see it...and it's not a whole lot to look at. The proportions are awful.

I'll have to ask my 370 buddies if people roll down their windows to talk to them as much as people want to talk to me about my 08 Nismo. Most don't even know there is a 370 Nismo - just heard about the 07-08.

^That's an awesome pic.

It's funny, I've very rarely seen a Nismo driving down the road in real life, and since I'm always in the driver's seat of mine I never see it from the outside while moving.

I always have to stop myself from galking at the car when a mechanic drives it into the bay to get an inspection sticker. It really grabs your eye.

The one thing I have noticed which makes a huge difference though is if the car is clean or dirty. I find when the car is really dirty it just kind of blends in with other cars, but when its clean it friggen glistens or something. Maybe its the way you can fully see the contrast between the body color, grey areo pieces and the wheels. Or maybe the lines of the car are better defined. But when my car is clean I've seen 92' Civic drivers get into accidents oogling it. When its dirty it just seems like another car on the road.

Maybe thats just me, but I also find I drive my car differently when its clean or dirty.

Clean - relativly light on the brake and gas unless I see some wide open curvy roads where I can get on it good.

Dirty - Usually keep it in a lower gear, harder on the gas and the brakes. Maybe its just a psychological thing where I no longer worry about brake dust or engine soot making my car dirty.

...Maybe I'm just weird...

I get the same thing in my Nismo, more people stop and stare, give me the thumbs up or just say nice ride. I don't think the guys in the 370 get the same responses!

Thanks my friend took that pic from his NSX while we were leaving a car show here in Fort Lauderdale heading down 95. Its my favorite pic!

I agree with you on the car looking good all the time, clean or dirty! Its one hell of a cool looking car from all sides!

Autoweek did a test drive before they (370 Nismo) hit the USA . In the moutains of Japan AW was pushing the Nismo and they had to stop, the brakes were fading and smoking from going down the moutain. They knew they (Nissan) had a problem with the brakes before it hit the USA and still went with it, not real smart! I can't find the article or i'd give a date of the issue. Made me glad I had my 07 also!

who track abuses a car on stock pads?

stock pads suck *** on the 350's also.....here's a tip: track your car, at the minimum upgrade your pads to RACE USE pads instead of a street version.
