Default How Often Do You Do These Things?

1) Get your alignment checked

2) Get new brakes / pads

My car is approaching 25,000 miles and I have not had an alignment or any brake work done.

My brakes are starting to feel a little soft, and as for my alignment, I have no idea. The roads in New England are terrible and I've definitely nailed a few potholes receintly, so I'm thinking it may need one.

I'm worried about letting Nissan screw with it because I always find nothing comes back or lasts as long as it does from the factory when Nissan Techs start adjusting it.

I ask you guys because I trust you more than the Nissan booklet. If I used that thing I would be out thousands $ for unnecessary maintanence.

What do you think I should be doing at this mileage. Is there anything else I should be aware of? Does the Nismo have more camber or toe in/out than the regular Z? or anything else I should be aware of specific to the Nismo set up?

Thanks

Based on your description, get an allignment done asap. Laser. have you checked your tires for uneven wear? Relentless SOB on RWD cars, the Z being no exception and renound for horrible inner wear unless your allignment is on par... there's no set time to do an allignment, although chances are if you even think you need one, you do. I am actually overdue for mine but just checked my tires the other day on a lift and i'm riding perfectly even pretty much and as per the driving experiance, not drifting/leaning/pulling anywhere... so i may hold off.

There is no 'interval' for an allginment, but 25k miles seems more than enough imo.

As for your brakes... are you on OEM fluid since factory? Chances are if so that's what, 3 years and 25k on dot 3 fluid? Could very well be responsible for your soft pedal more so than your pads... if your pads are done you'll know it more so based on noise. Rotors ditto really... you could always take off your wheels and check? 25k could very well be time for new pads, pending your driving of course... I don't drive in rush hour, and only 'giver' every once and a while... I just passed 16k and just had my clutch/brake fluid swapped for RBF600 (change your clutch fluid if you haven't btw too).. checked brakes a week ago, still TONS of meat left on the OEM pads and rotors.

Don't let nissan check your brakes, they'll just lie to you. Get someone you trust or get a micrometer and DIY... not hard at all... the soft pedal, unless you drive hard, is prob your fluid being **** really though.

ANything else you should be aware of? No, but do your 30k maintenance .

EDIT: What color is your brake/clutch fluid? Mine was pretty dirty (reservoir), my brake fluid in the reservoir was clean though... of course the dirtiest fluid was by the calipurs. If it doesn't look perfect in the reservoir it's def time for a swap. My clutch is nicer (stiffer) now and so are my brakes, not a huge amount on the brakes but noticeable when i first got the car back.

^ Awesome. Thanks for taking the time to write all that. I really appreciate it. I didn't even think about the fluids.

Maybe I will just take it to my local mechanic who most of my family trusts/uses for their cars.

No worries, and btw, no special camber. That sounds like a plan, anyone can do the aformentioned work you just need someone who'se not going to yank your metaphorical chain heh.
