Parents these days.....!!!! I see it with my neighbor. They bought their daughter a car. She crashed it within 2 months. They had it repaired for her. She went away for the weekend to another campus & she returned and the car didn't. She rear ended someone. Totalled the car out. Most likely texting! Parents just keep buying their kids cars, paying their insurance!!!! Giving them gas money.... Where does it end?!
I had to make my own car payments, goto work, buy my own gas and pay my own insurance! Kids now a days are so F'in lazy!!! I see it at my new job all the time..
The apprentices are aways on their phones, surfing the web, texting and even talking! Trying to get them to do some actual work is a HUGE F'in challenge....
Ughhhh

You're not kidding Zim. It's everywhere! Went to Buffalo Wild Wings and had to send my order back 3 times! Kids today just don't give a sh*t. There is no such thing as pride in this new generation. And like you said, the parents are the enablers! Let's give the little f*cks everything and not make them earn it! So then they don't appreciate a damn thing and expect the world. They are the 99%!

It's funny until some douchebag teen kills someone because they think they know how to handle a car when they don't.
Hopefully, Ryan Dunn is his guardian angel. Guide him well, Mr. Dunn.

Evo 8 huh with 7k in mods.....If he can't drive a na 350z, what makes him think he can drive an evo. It's probably that mentality of it being 4wd. @ Lakeside, I think it depends not the person itself. I've had friends whose parents give them cars, but they take care of it as their own. On the other hand, I recall back in the high school days there was a kid who totaled a brand new range rover and didn't really care, but in the end got a g37s. Plus, I personally believe that if you work for your own money, you value it more.

I was lucky enough that my father leased me a new honda accord for my first car.. Cant say I'd even do that for my kids. I think the best thing to do is buy them a decent little 4 banger that's cheap, good on gas, and safe. I could be making eleventy billion dollars a year and no way in hell would my kid drive anything close to a 350z.

"his dollar is worth less than your dollar" ie. he puts less value on something because he didn't work towards it.
Back in high school, it was pretty common to see the parking lot filled with M3's, STI/EVO, Audi's, etc etc. I can totally understand somebody wanting to give a nice car to their son or daughter but most of the time, those kids are not capable of handling a vehicle or maintaining it themselves yet. The college I go to now has a kid with a brand new GTR because his parents want him to be safe. He drives **** slow and sucks at parking leading to many dents and door dings.
Maintaining a car yourself regardless of who bought it holds the highest respect in my eyes. I don't care if your parents gave you a 95 Corolla as long as you take good care of it, I can respect that. I've seen kids with 911 Turbos have to completely overhaul their brakes because they failed to change the brakepads and destroyed the calipers and rotors. I have even seen a kid try to do a burnout in a Audi S5 and end up reversing into a tree and totaling the car the first week he had it. He came back to school the next week with a different coloured S5. Ever see a 911 Black limited? I've seen one shoot off the side of the cliff and the guy got a brand new BMW 135i the next week.
People will have money and tend to spend it carelessly without thinking about the consequences. I started off in a FR car and although I have spun out a few times, it's never resulted in an accident. It's really hard to learn how to drive a car properly at it's limits if it's limits are way above your head.

The deal I had with my father was, he would match however much I had saved up and that was my budget. I ended up with an '84 TransAm 305ci 5spd with 62kmi. Not a bad first car. I didn't wreck it either. I later sold it and bought my father's low mileage '93 chevy S-10 blazer and he cosigned on it for me. Nothing was EVER given to me! I hung onto that SUV for many years & it got me through college.

Hahaha, I haven't actually gotten any swirl marks yet. I guess I've been lucky. The dealer down the road had a red 370z Nismo sitting out front. I had to go drool over it. Then I saw the black edition GT-R in the showroom...
Luckily I don't have a wife to complain

Hey, the car was made to be driven. I very much enjoy driving mine and I spare it no mercy. Got an extended warranty for 7 more years and until 150k miles (thank you Apple Federal Credit Union)
