The official resale value thread
I bought my 08 Touring brand new form a local dealer. It now has 19,000 miles on it and is still in mint condition.
I'm continually getting e-mails from the guy who sold me the car the latest one had my trade in as below:
Intelliprice Pre-Inspection Trade-In Estimate.
2008 NISSAN 350Z
$14,475 - $18,875
Price accurate until: February 04, 2012
Your Trade-in Appraisal
This estimate is provided by Intelliprice, an independent service, and not by a dealer, manufacturer or website provider. It is not an offer to purchase the vehicle. The appraisal is based on the accuracy of the information provided, and may be adjusted if the vehicle condition is not as represented. The actual trade value may vary depending on the date, vehicle condition, and prevailing market conditions.
I'm not looking to trade even though I love the 370 and wouldn't mind having one.
I just found out I may be getting a job in another state and will be driving a lot more and also having to live in an apt....so much for it being in mint condition with low miles....

2007 Nismo originally purchased in Santa Clara Cali
12,000 miles
no dings dents or scratches
bone stock, except for the bully dog GT tuner
and i am now the 3rd owner as the fella who picked it up from Cali couldn't drive it anymore due to back problems....
i paid a whopping $26,000 Cdn and i can't find anything similar in milage for less than $33,000

I like to use the "completed listings" over on ebay to get a feel for what cars are actually selling for. In this case there was one Nismo 350z sold recently. A 2008 with 17,875 miles, silver and it sold for $23,100 on 17 Jan.
IMO resale value is only what people are willing to pay for something. Again IMO, the NISMO has a special "wow" factor which is why you see people getting so much for them. I know I paid too much for mine at the dealer, but once I saw her, there was NO way I was going home without her, and I was in the market for a vert for the wife
I also just heard about someone who bought a 2008 Nismo with something like 5k miles on it and he paid $32k
I honestly think that our cars will eventually become worth a good chunk of change if they're left somewhat original. Granted this will be LONG after I sell the car, but it's still cool to know that you owned something that was so limited
. Example an '08(Red) with 17k miles on her, absolutely stunning condish...from Texas has been listed several times and one auction made it up to $10,000 and re-listed the auction got up to $15,000. I have seen that one listed at least four times. Each auction had a buy now at $26,980.. serious lack of interest
. And I see the same one on Autotrader all the time. Seems dealers get them from time to time hang on to them.. and when they don't sell the float them over to an auto auction
. It is just the reality of it, which I don't really like.Rich

I think the one you are talking about in Texas is the red one with 17k miles at Texas direct auto. I went look at it yesterday it it looks great but the inside of headlights are blacked out and there is CF di-noc on the interior. They wanted to give me 5k trade in and 15% interest. Lol I laughed and said I may be back once I talk to my bank. They wanted 26.5k firm.
Just an FYI.. that Z has been listed several times in the past and is currently re-listed again. He is asking too much for it, if you read the description. It already has 4 owners, mmm.. just saying. Nismo's do not move/sell that often at the asking price. Have been watching ebay and the same Nismo's have been getting re-listed five or six times already, and no sales and minimal bids

Yep that is the one. Been on Ebay a few times. I wonder what the fees are for listing & relisting auctions like that. It can't be cheap. That is the problem the dealers are so set on being "firm" with their asking price, and yet the car isn't a 100% mint. It is nice red though. Also makes me wonder how much they picked up the car for.. Do you think they would make 3K on the sale or more?

On a side note, I'm extremely glad that I did not modify the drivetrain and suspension. Not only did I not waste money on mods (which I'll never get back and lowers resale value), not spending superfluous money on the car has gotten me that much closer to what I eventually want.
I've gotten several calls about the 'mo and more than a few are only interested if it's bone stock. Can't blame them on that.

Honestly, I think they are making 5kish on it. Because they offered me 5k trade in on my high mileage 03, bluebooks for 10. He told me they pay auction prices. So you know they probably got that nismo for 19ish and selling for 27k
