Default Thoughts on this potential purchase?

Found a 2008 Black Nismo with 4k miles at SoCal CarMax. Having it shipped to a local CarMax currently. Price is 24.9k. Looks bone stock from the pictures, sound like a good deal from the limited info? One owner, clean CF.

Wow, 4K miles? I'd give it a careful inspection, though, as CarMax can't be trusted. We bought an Acura TSX several years ago with super-low miles. Clean CarFAX and supposedly passed all the CarMax inspections. Got it home and up off the ground to change all the fluids and filters, only to find the bottom of the car covered in paint overspray, and both the front and rear bumpers repaired with fiberglass from the inside. Stevie Wonder could have seen that this car was trashed, had he seen it from below. It also was missing the front airbag sensor (and probably a pulled airbag light bulb) and a patched rear exhaust section (from the crash damage). Needless to say, I brought the car back, they promised it was all good, and that I had nothing to worry about. Had an attorney friend write them a quick letter, and we took the car back for a full refund check the next day.

Agreed. I would be asking why has it never been driven? sometimes things that seem to good to be true usually are.

because no one is absolutely fool-proof have it looked over by a (or a few) qualified 3rd party mechanics...

$25k seems high...but you're in the ballpark if you're after a unmolested nismo

take the carfax and wipe your ssa with it - they are almost worthless...if they were a little better they'd be worthless

the things I look for...
-oil & fluids on the underside of the chassis/axles
-signs of unmodified modifications ... was there an aftermarket cold air intake, plenum spacer, exhaust installed and then OEM reinstalled for a resale...
-how are the OEM wheels? Are the tires OEM from the factory? Were Bridgestones installed on 2008 nissans?
-does the gauge cluster have the 'nismo' icon?

For reference ... I could install a ebay-purchased new gauge cluster showing 4k miles in roughly 20minutes...

OP, what's your purpose with this car?
