Default Zex can lick my sweaty nut sack!

Even more problems with the ZEX nitrous kit this weekend. I've copied this post to the big bad nitrous post, but will post it here too to warn others. CHOOSE ANOTHER NITROUS VENDOR THAN ZEX!!!

ZEX kit is down again!!! Ok, Summit Racing finally agreed to send me a new unit after I had the credit card company take back their money (and after ZEX refused to come to an acceptable solution). So I installed the new control box and it worked flawlessly... for a few days. After I dyno'd the car and drove home (bottle off), I noticed the solenoids were opening and closing at will. I barely got it home because it was spraying fuel and flooding the engine. Now here's the odd thing, I had the switch to the unit OFF!! The ONLY way it could have been firing the solenoids would be through the TPS voltage signal and ground wires, the red wire was open. This second ZEX unit does not have the same problems as the first, but it has a potentially disasterous new problem. After re-wiring it to a different configuration, I found it was spraying as soon as I turned the switch on when I was at crusing throttle (not very good for the engine). So to ZEX, for almost destroying my engine, I repeat FAH-Q!!!!!! I've had it, I'm returning the damn thing. I'm really suprised I haven't heard of more problems from others with their tps trigger functionality.

McDan,

Sorry to hear about your ill luck with the Zex units. I too was considering the Zex kit, but after talking to an import installer he recommended NOS because there was no cpu box and hardly any wiring to be concerned about. I suppose less could be best in this case.
I've had my shot of 50 NOS for a couple of months now, and I must say that I am pretty happy with the results. I plan on upping the shot to 75 as soon as I get colder plugs. Good luck on whatever future upgrades you may do.

Where? Their site?? Venom is the most notorious motor splitting nitrous set up on the market. DO NOT put that in your Z. First and foremost, it's a dry kit. You must run a wet shot unless you change your fuel system and run a programable mapping. NOS or NX. I personally have NOS, running 125 shot for almost 6000 miles, not even a hiccup.

Zaphod,

You're running a shot of 125 NOS?!? Wow! I bet those 1/4 mile slips are off the scale! I do have a couple of questions for you, are you running colder plugs? If so, what kind, and where did you get them? Thanks in advance.

Seems like some things never change. Back when I used to be a nitrous connoisieur, Zex = crap, Venom = crap, NX = crap. All use substandard quality solenoids. As far as I know, things haven't changed, and your post only substantiates the claim once again. I'm glad I grew out of nitrous.

Default Update

Just got off the phone with those ******** as Zex and they are refusing to refund me the $5 shipping they promised to repay for sending the unit back to them. They are stating they never said they'd pay for shipping to them. UNBELIEVEABLE! For anyone dealing with ZEX, get everything in writing from them, or record the damn phone message. All this over $5! Five freeking dollars they owe me. Company must be going under or something. I think I'll keep calling them and bugging the hell out of them till I get my money's worth of their wasted time.
ZEX ZUXS.

NX is a great kit. Nice solenoids, bottle, and tubing. I don't run it on this car, but I sprayed the hell out of my camaro w/built motor with it. I'm debating whether to use the kit on the 350 after I get the turbo on there.

NOS has been around for a long time but their solenoids look like Big Chief pencils next to the NX ones. They tend to get leaky if you don't rebuild them once in a while, or at least they used to.

Thumbs up

Zex wouldn't even give me their cost of the 2 sets of plugas they sold me they foulded my cars timing, in fact they (Wade and Joey) are the two biggest tech punk bit**** on the Internet.

If they lived in Sac I guarantee they would be out of business with all their windowes smashed.

I can't friggen give my ZEX Kit away and it's for sale on 3 boards!

What does that say?

I told my buddy yessterday look man 10 lb bottle pressure guage, release valve, bottle opener, heater about 15 jets up to 105HP purge EVERYTHING complete working kit for 450 bucks he said "I'll see what I can do but my phone isn't ringing and it's because of people like Wade and Joey in TN with their hloier than though chepaskate attitude.

I spent over 1300.00 bucks emailed them photoos of TWEO sets of their FOULD CRAP ZEX PLUGS and they never even paid me back for one set (6o bucks.)

In fact THEY BLOCKED MY EMAIL ADDRESS

The kit can get you in the 12's but I hope not one sible person every even considers BUYING ANYTHING ZEX.

STOP GIVING THEM MONEY AND THEY WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS ECONICS 101

SCREW ZEX

I feel much better now I have been wanting to say this for a month.

WADE Joey

MacDan and MAXHAX

You ladies amaze me!

I have been reading this forum for several months now and have been following the whole ZEX issue. I don't normally post on these boards but had to put my two cents in this time. I can't believe you are dealing with the same people at ZEX that I've dealt with. I think I've talked to every person there at one time or another in the last two years. They have helped me out a number of times on my turbo charged Prelude and on then again when I got my 350. Very helpful, patient people.

Max, you start out raving about how great their product and support is, then go 180 and start bad mouthing them over an issue with you had with some shop ripping you off on plugs. What's up with that? Your car flew with their kit on it, yet it sucks?

MacDan, after reading all of your adventures, I don't know what you're doing wrong. I have had two of their dry systems and one wet system and they worked every time. It has to be something to do with all the rewiring of the box and adding custom MSD controllers. I can't believe you are whining about 5 bucks though.

For anyone else thinking about nitrous kits, in my experience ZEX makes a great product and has very good customer service and that is hard to find these days!

Well it worked for you so that obviously proves they have a good product? And AGAIN I'll state the MSD box was not installed until after all the problems were cleared up. Believe me, I have reviewed my setup 20 times. I even found a solder short on one of the boards. The last kit is now functioning correctly, after re-programming it a couple times. The first kit was a bastard. ZEX customer support APPEARS eager to help out, but only if they can do it without much cost on their part or admitting to a product defect. Products do have occasional defects. There is no way around that. It's how they handle those few defects that matters. I don't care about the measily $5, it's the fact that they flat out lied to me. I spent $20 in time arguing about the $5 they owe me. They have immoral and illegle business practices.
