Default Nitrous kit questions

sorry im new here and have some questions. I read as much of the big bad nitrous post as my eyes could take and still have some questions. I plan on doing a zex wet kit in my car and am wondering what else you guys would suggest. I have a aem cai. What if anything r u doing to retard the timing? Would a vafcII be any help? I read the the ur pullies are a bad idea is this true? Sorry about so many questions.

well what if i did a nitrous express kit or a nos kit. my buddy has a zex kit and is running it for the first time on tuesday so ill see how the kit does. Evil350z ill have you know im not one to belive that a few bad experiences are grounds to completly rule out a brand. If that was the case nobody would have anything in there car. Especcially with all the nitrous horror stories out there. Also most nitrous related problems are due to the installer and not the kit. Hey also i wanna get your plenum soon so watch out for a phone call. Great stuff man keep making the parts.

or how about the thread saying "zex can lick my...."or how about the zex plugs that are too short that melt the thread of your engine block?
and what about the terrible customer sevice zex has?

the guy was asking for other people's opinions...so i gave him mine.

give the man all the info, and let him decide on what he wants to do.....peace

In TN there are TONS of 350zs....my girlfriend lives in Clarksville and I taken mine down there a lot..holy crap they are everywhere.

In Paducah there are only a few..about 5-6..only 2 blue ones...mine and a friend of mine's mom. I like my Z...here is a Q..is 500hp reachable with the 350's stock block?

I have had no issues with the ZEX kit on my G35Coupe.

I have not retarded the timing. A AFC would not hurt as you could tune the fuel without having to play around with re-jetting then testing via track or dyno, but I believe you would need the SAFC not the VAFC. A buddy of mine has the UR pullies and a healthy shot of ZEX...no problems.

Good luck.

you can definitely get there I will have the NX kit installed within a week I was runnin a frankenstein kit before I had the NX bottle and remote opener and the NOS solenoids but I ran 100 with no problems... as far as what you would need to hit 12's I would tell you to talk to MAXHAX but hes gone... I think the number 1 on your list should be NEW TIRES I would go with ET STREETs but thats up too you a lot of guys want to run with their street wheels on but those ET's will cut your time a lot... other things you might want to consider is maybe a set of HEADERS if you want to keep it looking stock maybe an intake if you want the engine too look PRETTY hahaha...

Running 150 shot with the zex kit and no problems at all. Running the ngk one degree colder plugs instead of the zex plugs. Can you get into the 12's? 02trex ran 12.85 two weeks ago so yes you can.

on your G35 with that big of a shot, how much timing are you pulling. I know the zex kit has a gerneric install manual, and it says for a 100 shot you have to pull 4 degrees of timting. I saw a couple of posts up that someone is running allot more than that and pulling no timing. how is this so...thanks in advance...

Re: 100 shot into the 12s -
I believe that 12s are possible or at least very close with a true 100 shot (100 @ the wheels) as long as you use some drag slicks (or ET Streets on 16s). This will not be a friendly application for daily driving, though, but they would be the best bang for the buck for a track car...you could pick up 3/10ths on your 60 ft. time alone!!

Re: pulling timing (or not) -
Pulling timing away from nitrous applications is done in order to prevent possible detonation. Our approach (3 of us that I know of) has been to substitute pulling back timing with richer fuel jetting. I would suggest 2 step colder NGK iridium plugs as well.

Re: shots of nitrous -
Beware of "listed" HP ratings. We have found that the shot sizes are way overstated, for example 100 shot = 77hp, 150 shot = 117 hp, 175 shot = 140 hp. Tuning via different jetting can get tricky.

You'll just have to find out what there advertised 100 shot jet combos are. I'd give them a call. No matter what, I recommend you dyno after install. Don't go by what anybody tells you. I almost learned the hard way and could've blown my motor. What was running person for one person here was not for my engine. So be safe, get a dyno and check the a/f ratio.
