From a NX 75 shot to a 150 shot!
So I want you opinion. I have been debating on if i want a 150 shot or 200(+) shot. Traction would be my enemy here. remember, I am in the lighter weight s14. I have a VLSD from the j30, and stock axles. Will be investing in drag radials, not slicks. So here are my thoughts: If I use a 200 shot, what if I cant get traction in second gear and have to wait until third to spray? would it be better to drop to a 150 shot so that I can spray through one extra gear? or do you think I shouldnt have problems sticking with the 200?

There's lots you're overlooking. Sift through the nitrous forums here and elsewhere to see what other options are available for you. Start with progressive controllers and 2-stage set ups.
and after the past few months of crawling all over this nitrous forums. I have not found anyone running over 150 shot, and not to mention, I am the only one in an S-chassis so that throws a very large variable that the z cars differ.

150 shot all at once will put a tremendous amount of strain on your engine, so increasing it further probably wouldn't be a good idea unless you build your engine to hold up to the power/torque increase. Progressive controllers and multi-stages can help but you'll still be limited by the engine in the end.
Also, the fact that you've a S14 doesn't change anything related to nitrous if you're still using a regular rev-up from a Z. The only thing it changes is your driveability on the spray due to lighter weight.

Oh, rofl. My mistake. 150 shot should be nothing. Still, you will fight for traction, like you said, and I'd say a progressive controller will be your best bet. They're not expensive either.

have u ever sprayed nitrous? 150shot is alot! I started out with a 75shot and barely had traction using 275/30/20 street tires. Went up to a 105 shot and traction was nil in first gear. I am auto by the way.
I would suggest doing a dual stage shot. two shots of 75. Spraying nitrous thru all gears with traction is what u want. The 75 shot in first gear would hook sometimes and when it did, the car shot out the hole.

I've run 125 shot on 275/35/19 street tires and stock street tires at the track and pulled 1.8 60's spraying at the top of 1st. It was hooking pretty good and I probably could have sprayed a little sooner. On slicks I pull 1.6's.
i would stick to the 150 shot because anything more and you might get pooling, which is bad for any motor, built or not. there is a reason that 150 kinda seems to be the limit around here. if you must go above 150, i would not only suggest a progressive shot like others, but also look into a dry shot instead, to get around the pooling danger.
With a dry shot, how's he going to get the extra fuel that's needed?

^ I agree, but OP is trying to cut corners wherever possible to save money. 
to an extent lol. I will be able to get a progressive controller after I get caught up on bills. this recent project has set me back. I just wanted to know what I can get away with for the race coming up in March. but yeah, i will just stay with the 150 shot until later.
FINALLY got some work done on the car. life can be distracting sometimes.
Bought some mil-spec plugs from Jordan Innovations to make wiring through the firewall a little cleaner and less painful.

That looks clean. I'd love to do the wire-tuck myself but I'm afraid of something messing up (or eventually) and consequently having to undo everything then redo everything all over.
ha just start soldering some spare wires for awhile. I used to be afraid of wiring until I began to solder. then i lost the fear because I knew i could fix whatever i messed up. since then I have just gotten better and more confident at doing anything with my wiring harness.
So I got the engine in there today. I started this morning by installing my LW flywheel and stage 4 Comp Clutch.


then dropped the motor in.

took my wire tuck a little further and I am running any wires destined for the fuse box through the fender well.


When I soldered my milspec harness connectors, I had a few spots left open. So I put random (yet color coded) wires on those spots so that I can run any sort of future sensor or whatever through the milspec plugs without having to take it apart. in this pic, you can see a bunch of them poking up by the fuse box, and below is me delegating those extra wires under the floor board.


I have a lot more wiring left to do tomorrow, then just hook everything else up and should be able to fire it up!
