Default Switch Locations

How many switches does everyone have? Where are they located ?

I am thinking of how to wire mine and where I want the switches.

1. Purge button
2. Arming switch
3. Bottle Blanket
4. Remote Opener

Would it present a problem to have the blanket and Opener on the same switch ? I can't imagine that I would need it open and not heated, nor would I want the heater on and it not be opened.

I will wire it so that the ignition has to be on for that switch to be active, so I don't leave the heater on all the time and end up like that Maxima.

Also, is anyone using a fuel pressure safety switch ?

well the point of a bottle heater is to keep the bottle at optimum operating pressure...... so by only turning it on when youre running nitrous would defeat the purpose if the ambient temperature outside was cold...... thus making the bottle cold.... so i would wire it in a way that the heater has its own switch.... like when you go out for a night and you know you might be doing some racing...... turn it on..... but i would wire it to like the cigarette/power outlet source that way its only on when the car is on....... the purge button can be on its own switch and so can the arming and RBO....... so you willl have 4 different buttons most likely.

The bottle heater doesnt heat the bottle in 2 seconds.......

Yeah, I knew that part about the heater, what I didn't know is that the opener is only functioning for a short period of time and they are different switch types.

Thanks for the reply...at least we know some people read them

I've got 4 switches too. Here's where I put mine. The wiring was insane back there but everything fit ok. I wired the bottle heater to the cig lighter so it turns off when the car does as a safety measure. The other switches get their power straight from the battery.

We had some left over Carbon Fiber and made a panel for them.

Have you ever accidentally turned any of those switches off with your elbow? Especially the one closest to the driver...

<~~~ check out my avtar.

it only fit 3 switches....barely. i had to put the bottle opener switch next to the tcs on/off switch. the change thing does close all the way without hitting anything.

i like how people are using their imagination with the switch locations. pretty cool.

I created a switch plate with guage holder for a gentelman.

Here is a "photochoped" screen shot of what it would look like.

what brand nitrous kit do you have?

are you talking about the WOT (wide open throttle) switch?

I have NX brand. Yes I am talking about the wide open throttle switch. I am thinking that maybe our gas pedals are electronically controlled and I need a TPS (throtle position sensor switch). I cant seem to find anything that moves near the intake when the pedal is pressed.

our throttle is electronically controlled. you'd have to install the WOT switch behind the gas pedal. you'll have to rig it a bit to make sure it only activates when your at full throttle.

Default WOT switch or TPS switch

Either will work! I prefer the TPS but whichever you use, don't forget to use a relay in the circuit.

Ok, I'm feeling pretty stupid as well. I've got the solenoids and WOT switch and I have them figured out. However, I'm looking a a pair of relays and have no clue what they do. A friend gave me the parts but I just assumed I could handle the wiring without directions (DOH!). Why are we using relays and not just completing the circuit with the switches?

I mean, I major in computer science and have built 5 computers, how hard can Nitrous be? (<-- rhetorical)

Default Why relays!!!

I did it (WOT Switch) without a relay and today I'm installing a "new hood"! It seems the amperage is too much for just the switch and after completing the circuit a few times(without the relay) your circuit will stay closed after you let off the pedal and you will get to experience "fireworks"!!

Has anybody thought of using the switches in your rearview mirror instead of using it for garage opener? also how about re-wiring the cruise control buttons, that if you don't use it like me. Talk about being stealth , only you know its real functions.

I like the stealth idea, but the bottle warmer and arming switch are the kind of switches that stay on while purge is temporary. I think all the buttons you named are the temporary kind unfortunately.
