So I just aquired some free H7 HIDs from a buddy and I was going to install them tomorrow. I got a few questions though.
I have read places that the H7 bulb doesn't fit excatly right in the headlight or something like that....is this true? If so is there a fix for it?
Anything I should be aware of before the install or is it as simple as mount the ballast/ignitor and plug everything in?
I have installed HIDs before, but searching these forums for HIDs has given me very confusing info b/c of the base model z differing and what not. Thanks for the help!

i put HIDs in my base model and there is some modification that needs to be done, very small amount though. what you need to modify is the clip that holds the bulb in place. it needs to be stretched out to accommodate the larger bulb base. what i did was place the bulb in place and stretch the retainer over it. the only other thing you may need to do is find a place to bolt the igniter and you may also have to re level your headlights. i needed mine re leveled.
yes the clip is very easy to bend, its a fairly soft metal that holds it in place. as far as re leveling your headlights, after i put mine in they were pointing fairly low and were almost unusable, so i just made them point higher, where they should be. its a little screw you turn on the back side of the headlight, lowers and raises the beam
yea you get to it from the top, basically put everything back together and you will need a really long philips head screwdriver, and there is a small opening behind the headlight housing that goes straight down to the screw. stick the screwdriver in there and turn one way for up and the other for down, simple

i just put the apexcone h7 bulbs in about 4 weeks ago. Not sure which bulbs you have but the ONLY thing i had to modify was the plastic cap on the back of the housing. i just drilled a hole and sealed it wil silicone. Everything else was just plug and play, i had no clip issues. The instructions were terrible but once i figured out what i was doing it took me more time to take my wheel off than to install the bulb and wires.
