soleil, i was off yesterday and didn't get out the house. . .was busy packing for my move and my computer wouldn't boot yesterday, i think my hard drive gave out. . .dunno. . .i get off at 5 today. . .passes are still good through the 25th. . .

Anyone know what computer problem these symptoms might relate to:
-Card disk read error, press ctrl+alt+del to restart (when rebooting, same thing over and over)
-Won't let me boot into 'SAFE MODE', tells me certain files are corrupt
-Before the first two started happening only my desktop background would come up, and when everything else 'tried' to pop up tons of error messages started to pop up as well. when looking at task manager it says all of the errored programs are running but they wouldn't be visually, no desktop icons would show up except the trash bin and when you go to the start menu to search for a file it says it doesn't work. . .i'm lost. . .but now i can't even get to the desktop anymore. . .won't boot into windows. . .does this sound like i need a new hard drive, comp just crashed or been seriously infected? (btw, i constantly scan for viruses using different types of programs: Kaspersky, Malwarebytes etc. so i personally don't think it's a virus problem). . .any ideas. . .anyone?

 

It could be a failing hard drive... if you have an XP disc, boot into Recovery Console and run chkdsk /r c:

 

It uses Vista and it runs 'chk dsk' and tells me that the computer was shut down to protect information and to do certain things it suggests but doesn't let me into windows to try these things. . .sucks. . .

 

Ah, you can download a hard drive tool to test to make sure it's your hard drive... if not, it could be a virus or some bad corruption.

seems like a lot of people are getting new big screens. . .how do you like that one so far. . .my g/f's dad just got a 65" Panasonic Veira Plasma HDTV. . .he'll be hooking it up soon but i'm pretty sure it will be sharp. . .i wanna get a movie projector. . .heard some good things about the quality of the pictures. . .

 

So far so good. I literally just got it. I hooked it up and played some cod last night, but I don't have high def service yet.
