So I can't get the back bolt on the driver side of the 'cat' for nothing! Neither can two exhaust shops. Its completely rusted in there apparently and from trying and trying with regular sockets then stripped nuts sockets....its even MORE stripped. I can't believe it is being this difficult.

*BTW* the other back bolt on the passanger side actually snapped when I was trying to break it loose. Regardless I did not care because the 'cat' still came off.

Any ideas people? The second exhaust shop said he could get it if he dropped the headers......for 350$. F*ck that! I don't care how destroyed the 'cat' gets. Im thinking of maybe prying on the cat to get this bolt to snap also but I don't want to destroy anything else.

Thanks for your input!

download an fsm,

-jack car up and support on jackstands(fram rails or any part of the body thats sturdy)

-place jack under engine cross member(support the weight)

-unbolt the 4 or 6(?) bolts that hold the engine cross member to the frame

-lower the jack so that you have room to fit a cutting wheel on the bolt or ehaust piece(if your gona throw it away)

revers steps after new parts are installed

note - might have to unbolt/support the tranny mount depending on how much room you'll need

Ok.. i did Mpacts and Smaqaho's test pipes and on all 4 pipes the top bolt you reach from the top (through top side of engine) they all snapped the bolt heads leaving threads in old cats which was ok cuz its in old cat. now Smaqaho's was a lil harder to break the bolt head off but then again, mpacts car only has 4900mi on it lol. Once that top bolt is stripped your phucked bro. you honestly may as well and do headers while your at it and forget the head ache.

I broke all 4 top bolts with a breaker bar and a 2ft pipe ext on the breaker bar. theyre a biotch! Smaqaho's almost stripped on me but luckily it didnt. but youlld either have to remove the header and get it off or just go ahead and buiy new headers and sell the stock cats for cash at one of those places that buy them and sell the header for scrap. no joke. no need to Remove it and possibly damage the heeader and put it right back on.

Sorry i couldnt bring good news
