Milwaukee Area Z Owners
Hey Eltness, so I was just thinking about your situation and I came to the conclusion that if you would've just upgraded your internals back then you would've saved money in the end without having to rebuild!! hahaha. Feb. 29is good with me, who knows snows might even be gone by then already.
Just took the Z out yesterday. Port Washington to Appleton area. Trip up was great, but back not. US 41 turned to black ice just before Highway 28. Many cars in the ditch. Not me. Big accident had to slow down. Took Highway 28 to 45 and smooth going because those roads were salted.
Just happy I was not in the ditch.

Damn wizman, you're much more brave than me. Eversince my last incident, I haven't had the guts to take the Z out with even the slightest drop of temp or the slightest sign of ice on the road.. My tires are too touring for the weather..

Oh no bro, my Z is fine; just a little scratch under the side skirts but those will be replaced either way, hehe. Look forward to meeting you bro, even if the Feb 29th thing doesn't go through we'll set up a meet first thing when snow goes bye bye.

Doba, it's a great deal in WI; but from what I've encountered, if you're willing to wait and keep searching you can find one at a far better price.. I had to travel all the way down to MO to get mine.. But then again, that's an 06 model with only 20k miles on it. Make sure you car fax it and find out how many times its been to the shop and check all the undercarriage of the car when you go look at it. I don't know if you own a Z or if this is your 2nd Z that you're looking into, but when I was serious about mine and looked carefully into it, I realized that Z's were a very abused car.. Their engines usually have been strucken to the edge and their undercarriage is usually in pretty rough shape (even though that's an easy thing to fix up).
Ive been searching for like 5 months now.. nothing on a serious note but looking at the deals and I havent encountered an 06 in the 19's yet possibly a base, but nothing more.
I actually posted this here cause I though maybe someone knows the car or checked it out and can tell me a thing or two about this car, like the things you mentioned above.
Im still like 2 months away from buying so its nothing serious but still a great deal non the less if everything checks out

I agree with Eltness there Doba.. If you're planning on getting a used Z, look into an Enthusiast.. For the most part the price are not all that much different apart at all in the used price arena. I can check it out for you once I head back to school down in Whitewater this upcoming week since it's only 45 minutes drive away; however, the problem with looking at vehicles at this time of the year is that you can't tell if there's a problem with the car.. Scratches looks like salt marks and oil puffs looks like cold weather puffs, you know what i mean my friend? I'd be happy to check it out for you though.
One other thing that you might want to try is the method that I went with.. I found mine on eBay.. The car was being listed for 10 days, after talking to the owner for 6 days I decided to go down from WI to MO myself and look at the vehicle.. Usually when you talk to people you can tell pretty quickly if they're telling you a whole bunch of poopoo or if they're telling you the truth on their car. Owners that refuses to take photos of requested areas of the car for you are owners that you should try to avoid.. This owner took photos of everywhere I asked for me and was even truthful enough to his words to take videos for me! So by the time I traveled down to MO, I already had the intent of bidding until I won the car.. I ended up paying $14,999 + $700 WI state tax for my Z.. It was a 03 Enthusiast with 40k on it and body seems like it was garaged kept with no activities in the winter what so ever.. Just an option that you might want to keep in the back of your head.. EBay is not really a good place to purchase things, but sometimes exceptions can be made..

I totally agree, I dont want to get a Base model, I rather get an 04.5 non base than an 06 base.. But this is NOT a base 06 thats why I think the price is great.
Dont worry about checking the car out, if I was 100% ready to buy my car then I would have really appreciated the gesture, but im not so please dont worry about it.
I get what you’re saying that its not the best time to buy a car, but iI would make sure to check it inside out thoroughly before buying it, make them clean it to make sure there are no scratches and such.
anyways thanks for the tips, like I said before thought it might be someone’s car from the board.

I plan on keeping my Z stock for now. Only 800 miles on it, so got to have some fun running stock. Have had people toy with me already, but trying to keep it under 4000 k until broken in.
My motorcycle is not stock and I bought it in 2003, so stands to reason the Z may not stay that way.
Let's hope the cold weather and snow go away soon.

Doba, there's a pro and con to buying cars during any kind of season, now I'm beginning to sound like a hypcript:
Buying car during the warm weather:
-Pros-
You can tell much more closely on what condition the car is in.
-Cons-
The price of car gets jacked up especially if it's a sports car
And it's the complete opposite if you buy it during the warm weather.
The best time to buy a sports car is during the fall season.. Still warm enough out to evaluate a car and it's near the winter season so the prices of sports cars are at a low. Just a few suggestion from an appearent hypocript Doba, hehe.
