Default Chicagoland Car Audio?

Hey i am starting to get into the martket for some new Car Audio/Video equpiment, and i need to know of good places to go.

I went to ABT, and got quoted about 2800 for a DVD/LCD HU, Xhant Amp, and a Kicker 10' sub. the install fees where about 700 bucks. i don't know exactly why the install is that high, its not like they have to make special boxes since the sub fits right in the bose stock spot, the LCD is built into the HU, i can't imagin that taking 15 hours to do like they said it would. the prices of the units where very good

Kenwood Excelon CD/DVD Receiver - $1300.00
Xtant Amplifier XTANT31 - $390.00
Kicker Mobile Subwoofer 03CVR104 - 90.00

and then there was cabling and dynomating
all together like 2100 which i figure isn't too bad for what would be installed, just those install fees seem really high.

You could always try Tweeter. Not sure exactly the way you want it done but I have talked a little with them about doing my car. They did say however that most subs should be enclosed even though it fits in the factory sub spot. They recommended doing a nice light fiberglass encloser. That the sub is more "sealed".

What i would like to do is pretty much what everyone else on this board with out the nav system is doing.

Dropping an LCD unit into the stock nav spot, and getting a DVD player in the Head unit.

but i would also like to add subs in the factory sub spot, with amp. as for tweeter, they could be very pricey too. corse i would get the parts from one place and have another place install it. i have a few friends saying that ABT is ripping me off with install fees. ABT said it would take like 13 hours to install all that stuff. personally i think they are on crack. i think i could figure out how to install the stuff and install in myself in 13 hours.

Yeah, I agree that 13 hours sounds like alot especially if they aren't building an enclosure. If they don't have to make anything, I wouldn't think it would be more than 4-5 hours. I did have Tweeter do my last vehicle and was very happy with the install. I also think ABT would do a good job. A long time ago, I had Circuit City install a system and it sounded terrible. I basically had to go in and redo most of it myself. All in all, I would rather pay and extra 100-200 dollars and have it done right. Just my thoughts, good luck.
