I had a 63 impala when I was 19, it had air shocks in the rear.
It would have a hot rod look then the next day I would drop the air and it looked like a lowrider. yaa-to be 19 again.

So if you're old battery works is your alternator going out than???

 

No you need to drive for 60 miles to charge a battery, Dave just let it idle which doesn't charge it

Having it idle should still be charging the battery, hence why it should read 14volts which means its charging, the only real way to find out would be to get a volt meter and test it, If the battery says 12V at beginning start up it should keep on climbing up till it reaches the 14 volt area...Not sayin that driving around doesnt hurt either, but if the volts are not climbing than your alternator isnt workin. But on first start up your rpms are going to be higher till the oil starts to get warm and than drops the rpm to idle.

 

My alternator is fine. I'm still going to drive it ASAP.
