Default Chicago Folks, Please Help me!!!

Hey guys, My wife and I are tossing around the idea of going to Chicago to visit some friends of ours that moved there. We live in New Mexico and have never been. Only reason we are going is because Im cashing in a few air miles in order to go for free. We will have to fly in to O'hare I think. Here is the kicker maybe. Our friends say they live near Champaign or something. On the map it looks way the fukc away from Chicago and the Airport. How long is that drive? I would assume my wife wants to stay near our friends, but if they live way the heck in BFE Im not so sure I want to even make this trip. Normally, driving a couple hours wouldnt matter but since the tickets are from air miles, you cant choose the best flight times. We would be arriving thursday night at 730pm, then have to go home on a 6am flight sunday morning. Seems like to much driving to enjoy the short time we will be there if we are staying in Champaign??? Any ideas??

Thanks, Ben

Hey Ben, Champaign is about a 2.5hr drive depending on lovely chicago traffic Thats a bit of a haul and it's very boring, but who knows when you or your wife would be out to see them again.

Safe Travels...

on another note, my shop is just over the hill from a runway right next to ohare, if you want to stop in and see us

Take care
Chris

Thanks for the comments guys! I dont know any details yet. I only know that my wifes friend works at the University and I would assume she lives not to far from it. I think she said she lives in or right near Champaign.
What we might do is, just stay at a nice hotel in the center of chicago and have her friends come stay 2 nights at our same hotel. I went to travelocity to scope out Hotels. looks like prices range from 170-450 a night. Id like to not go over 200 a night, but where should we stay. Is it Michigan ave or something that is the hot spot with hotels, restaraunts, etc??? Cant rememeber the name but alot of the old style nice hotels seemed to be there. What else would be cool to go see or do?? Are there off broadway plays and stuff? We like theatre and also good music, and good food.

Thanks again guys.
