Default Who is interested in a chicago based 350Z club (and web presence)?

Frank I am discussed this briefly at the meet on Sunday. There are a few ways to go about this, but it will cost some money to set up a forum...register a domain, etc.... Not much initially, but more as the site grows. What do you guys think? We would need some people to donate some cash, probably we can get vendors involved. What is everyone's thoughts?

I'd be interested in getting this set up and help where I can. Just a thought, I'm not a member of the Windy City Z Club, but I wonder if they would assist in anyway?

Worst scenario, we can set up a Yahoo group distribution list ( named something like that) to send/reply to topics. http://groups.yahoo.com

I can setup a forum and register a domain name, no problem. I just want to make sure there is enough interest to do this... Anyone else interested? I'll see if I can contact Windy City Z club

As you know, I am interested in this was well.

I was thinking about this after we talked on Sunday. I wish I knew more about setting up forums and web development.

For the hell of it, I set up this free forum the other day. It's pretty low budget though. http://forum.cjb.net:81/cgi-bin/foru...um=chicago350z

I think we should do something separately from the Windy City Z Club though. They seem to be more into other generation Z's. We might be able to get sponsorship from some local dealers and shops.

Let me know how I can help.

You guys would have my support. I would be willing to be a major presence on it...I would not have time to moderate and such, but we could setup Groupbuys and etc...WE are currently ranked Number one in the country for VW and are hoping to get into the internet enthusiast crowd with our Nissan franchise. We are currently building four really nice Zs with the help of Speedquest. I believe one of our customers' Jeff won the last Windy City Show and my car has won as well. Let me know how I can help support our local guys, I am very well connected in both the tuning and street circuit....

Tim,

Do you think your dealership would be willing to be a sponsor?

Also, I saw in the latest Windy City Z Club newsletter that your dealer is giving a 35% parts discount to club members. Does this include Nismo parts? Arlington Nissan told me that their club discount applies to Nismo parts.

Yes the discount applies to all of the NIsmo products, however allot of them do not have that much mark up. Its on an individual part basis, but cheaper than most places and about the same price if not less than Performance Nissan.

Yes we would be willing to sponsor and be the host store...

I'm definitely interested. I would suggest we include G35C's.

My main interest is track time though. Too bad no one else wants to learn how to drive their FAST Z's FASTER in a safe environment.

Passing Porsches IS .........FUN!

Looking good is easy.........being good is the challenge.

Great news on both things. Ginash (synth19) and I are going to work on putting this together in the next couple weeks, so we'll be in touch soon. And I'll be seeing you in the Spring for my Nismo exhaust, headers, intake, suspension, LMGT4's, ..... , if my wallet allows.

Bruce, you can be in charge of the track events.

Cool, Frank. I'm ready. I have a few friends in the right places. You might need to buy some "correct" jewelry though!

I would also be intrested in the club, i'm slowly in the process of building up my car. i would love to show it in shows and stuff and be a part of a club with people who have there act together. i have been in a few others where the people where about 17 and really didn't do much of anything.

Will chip in my $.02 when I get back from Putnam Park this weekend, but just wanted to let you guys know I'm interested in at least participating if not helping in some capacity. Sorry if I'm late to the party - I tend to hang out at the other site most of the time and only check here every few days.

I missed you guys at D & B last weekend - I got stuck working late and never made it over there. These 70 hour weeks are killing me... Z season is almost over!

I'm definatly up for a chi-town Z club. A yahoo group would not be a bad place to start I have one for my SRT-4 club and it works pretty well. I am always on the net so I could contribue as a mod or help planing meets. I am a track ***** so track days are a major intrest for me. Please keep me posted and let me know anyway that I can help.

Hey guys, Frank and myself are putting this together as we speak. We have a domain setup and a forum is currently being designed. Since Frank and I are putting in the money for this project, we will be getting some sponsorship money to fund the site. I haven’t spoken to Frank about the specifics, but there will be NO pop-up ads, and crazy banners all over the place. Ads will be subtle and not affect the overall site design or layout. Be on the lookout for this within a few weeks. Frank and myself will be the administrators, but we will definitely be needing some moderators who can really make sure the forums run smooth (and more importantly in the beginning), help market the forum. Euroteknik.com is a great example of how a Chicago local club grew from relative obscurity to its 1000+ members. Talk to you guys soon.
