Default Is It Worth It?

I currently daily a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta S. I bought it for around $20k. I would like to sell my Jetta, and purchase a 350Z because I've been a fan for so many years. Unfortunately, my price range for purchasing a Z would be somewhere around $5k. I figured I would take to the forums (I browse weekly) and ask daily 350z drivers how their experience is in 2020. I'm curious on maintenance....Expenses....And how to deal with Michigan's ever-changing winters...

Thank you.

Welcome- your question is speculative, so here's my $0.02. The 350Z is a solid car, with maintenance in line with how it's been treated. Unfortunately, with only $5K in your budget, the cars you're able to afford will either be high mileage examples, or ones that have been abused or neglected. You'll need a budget equal to the purchase price to rebuild it to the point that it'll be reliable again. If you have a late model VW, my advise is to keep it and save up some money for a future purchase of a vehicle you want.

In your opinion, what is a reasonable price range for a 2007 350z?

Open ended question. Could be anywhere from your budget to, say, as much as $15k depending on maintenance (it’s had), mileage, overall condition, trim level.

I frankly don’t see any logic in dumping a 2019 car for one 12 years old, minimum. Under 50k miles, possibly. But otherwise, nyet.

Mic has it nailed. A well-maintained '07 Z with low miles and service records should range from $14-16K out west where we live. Your local area may vary depending in available supply.
