finally they shut down the meets in king of prussia...
home depot was a not quite successful....... ...
Reason that it was not successful?
#1. home depot at kop is a 24/7 store
#2. its busy on friday nights...
#3. the lot is tiny
#4. open/public meets in the mainline with anything but good cars attracts police attention in general...
solution:
My meets in the beginning were much better
reason 1. invitational only (no bad cars such as 240sx with 5 different coloured body panels)
reason 2. keep it small
reason 3. choose a lot thats big enough to meet the demands for both the public and the car enthusiasts
reason 4. teens are ok... as long as they come with their dad's M3
if u want a mainline meet...
my idea was genius...
keep it good cars - i only invited Z/G, S2K, BMW, Porsche, and various nicely modified vehicles (invitational only?) etc etc...
period...
*this is officially not a rant*
this is a simple critique on the mistakes that we have made and what we, as a car enthusiast group, to study and learn for the future.

I dunno man...car meets by invite only is sort of an elitist approach, don't you think? Maybe initially when the Z first came out, and everyone who owned one was at an income level where they could afford a $30k new car, the blanket stereotype is that people who make that much money are generally "decent" people (i.e. middle to upper middle class, steady income, non-criminals, etc.), so that avoided any "rowdy" behavior at the meets. But now there are Z's out there 3 years used and available for a much lower price, so you will start to get a wider variety (socioeconomically speaking) of people at the meets. My point is that the instance you cited of a 240 with various different colored body panels is driven this year by the same guy who will own a used Z next year. The cars may change, the people may not. So then it comes down to inviting only certain owners within a larger owners club, which to me is a bit discriminatory.
Furthermore, if you want to limit the attendance to Z's / G's, then advertise the meet on Z / G forums only. If you go onto a general tuner enthusiast site, like tri-state tuner, you are essentially opening the invitation to all members on that messageboard, whether you specify Z / G or not. And to allow the Milla Racing M3 guys to show up while denying admission of the Prelude and Integra guys is, in my opinion, unfair. I agree 100% that morons should stay home, but there are certain risks inherent to holding an open, free meet in the public domain, and one of those is that anyone can show up, and you can't ask them to leave. I believe it comes with the territory.
