Yep, doing it myself.
It is supprisingly easy to take the car apart.
And Nissan did a great job of "anticipating" aftermarket
mods. There is plenty of room for everything.
the biggest resource has been my350z. Tons of great help here.
recommendations:
get the right tools (multimeter, wire fish, plastic bolt popper, etc)
plan, plan, plan
wait for everything to get in before you start
(I couldn't wait and have taken the hu out at least 20 times)
don't be afraid to make mistakes, but be prepared to wait
for replacement parts.
I started with just the speakers and the bose.
big difference just there, but still no bass.
next I did the HU & amp
then, the sub
now the lcd & nav
I'm sure I'll still have everthing in pieces on Sunday if
you guys wanna oogle over the mess I've made...

great thanks for the tips
I have begun locating threads explaining how to do everything and printing those out. Figured that would be the best way. Glad to hear the car isn't that hard to pull apart. Which dash kit did you use and where did you get it? Also, did you use a wire adapter to hook up to the HU? (Instead of cutting and splicing into the factory harness)
So far we have ordered and Sony MP70 head unit, JL XR650's for the front and VR650's for the rear. I have a couple of amps not being used, as well as a sub. We got in on that group buy for the trunk enclosure. Should sound so much better than the base stereo.
SORRY - didn't mean to thread jack

went with the metra dash kit
also bought the nissan - generic and generic - alpine harnesses
but the generic - alpine didn't fit the 7996 so I ended up
splicing into the nissan - generic one.
got them all from Circuit City at Springfield Mall but I basically had to give them the part number for the Metra kit and special order it.
took about 4 days to get it in.
