I just got a flat tire! The Z is still running the stock rims. I took the car to a gas station to get it patched. The nail went in from a weird angle that can't be patched. Since I have the WORK Meister S1 in my basement for a while (I was gonna install them when it gets warm!), I'll just order tires for the S1 and get everything installed. Now what I need is a good shop to get them on! My car is currently in Catonsville, MD. Does anyone know any good tire shop close by? I'm running the spare right now, so I don't want to go too far.

I've sent out this following email to some tire shops around. Anybody knows any good shop to install rims + installing TPMS using banding method near Baltimore, MD? I remember we have a whole group of Baltimore members on this forum.

Hi,

I own a 350z and it's currently running 18" stock rims. I purhcased WORK Meister S1 in 19". I also purchased TOYO T1R tires in 255/35/19(front) and 285/35/19(rear). The stock rims have wireless tire pressure senors and I'm looking to keep the feature with the new rims. But I've heard that because of the angle of the valve stem holes, an alternative method is needed to get them to work. I have the instructions and pictures of how it's done.

How much do you guys charge to get them installed on my car?
Can you guys do the tire pressure sensor installation? If so, any extra change?

Instructions of the "banding" method:
Step 1: Cut the band the desired length (or you can custom order the exact lenght you want, I just bought the do-it-yourself kit).

Step 2a: Making the bracket: For this I went with a 5/8" (1/2" works too) plywood spacer. (see pic below)

Step 2b: Bend the lower tabs on the spacer to fit the curvature of the wheel. And bend one of the upper tabs down so that on one side of the spacer the upper and lower tabs almost touch. (see pic below)

Step 2c: Run the band through the spacer. Make sure you run the band between the upper and lower tabs, even on the side where they almost touch. (see pic below)

Step 2d: Remove the nut (12mm wrench) from the TPS and guide the valve stem through the raised tab on the spacer. The replace the nut and tighten down. You'll notice that it is a pretty tight fit, as you tighten the nut, the whole thing becomes tighter on the band. This is do to the angle of the TPS locking the bracket to that spot on the band. (see pic below)

Step 3: I also installed industrial two sided weather proof tape to prevent any possibility of the band and TPS rotating on the wheel. Wrap the band around the wheel and tighten. The TPS should be almost completely flush against the wheel and nothing should be able to move at all. (see pic below)

Why is Baltimore so ghey? I called a couple shops close by and they all either try to charge me so much money ($ per rim + 2 hours labor) or they don't even want to deal with the whole TPS and low profile tire installation. Is business that good these days that every place just turns down their customers like that? I'm taking mine to JE Performance... Are they any good?

Thanks for all the help guys. I ended up going to JE Performance to get the rims installed. I highly recommend that shop. The owner James there was extremely professional and they did a great job on the installation. Price was very reasonable too. I've posted some pics on another thread.
