I was in a funeral last Thursday, and the stupid magnetic thing that says "Funeral" that goes on top of the car scratched my roof and some of my trunk. The funeral line went onto the highway, which was he ll as it is, and in the middle of the whole thing the wind moved it from the front all the way to the back scratching the roof, and when it hit the glass it slid down and reattached itself to the trunk lid, not without scratching it though. We were only going about 40-50 mph, but I heard the whole thing happen and saw it reattach itself to the trunk.

I was pissed to say the least, but out of respect for the family in mourning I didn't say anything there and called my insurance agent (he's family) later that evening. He told me to first be respectful and call the funeral home up and see what they have to say, I did that and they were cool about it. They said to bring it by, they would look at it, and he'd bring me to his body shop.

Now this is my baby, like it is to all you guys. I want to bring it to some respectable auto body shop first to get numbers of my own, so if numbers are completely off I'll know something is up. Or if numbers are close I would rather go to a shop I know is good and tell them (the funeral home) to deal. I was told that Sako Auto Body, in Medford is a good shop, does anybody have any recommendations on what I should do, even more so a good body shop in the major Boston area?

First off, sorry for your loss.

Second, I used a place in Arlington years back that was pretty good for my mom's car that I cared about. But never was really worried about those cars. The last bodyshop I used for my own car (old jetta I was selling) was a sketchy place in Somerville that I would recommend to save money. But I would never take my Z there.

Otherwise, I would get a list of "Reccomended Shops" from your agent. Usually they are reccomened casue no one takes the car back for crapy work.

The place in Arlington is:

Arlington Auto Body Inc
14 Dudley CT, Arlington, MA
(781) 648-9580

But I haven't been there in about 3 years.

Good Luck!
