No. It doesn't say what the charity event is for.

I think we'll be ok so long as there are not a lot of trucks parked...remember, we can go double wide on that exit since its so wide

Hi all,
My name is Chris and I am the organizer of this GTG. I'd like ot thank my good friend Adam for posting this up here and assisting in getting the word out. I think there may be a misunderstanding with some info and I want to clear it up before Sunday. The thread on VWVortex does cover some of what I'm about to explain.
I created this event approx. nine years ago. It started off as a cruise on Superbowl Sunday, but due to a quick increase in attendance the cruise had to be changed to a GTG at Jones Beach, then Wantagh Park, and now Sunken Meadow State Park. Every year the event has been held the morning of Superbowl Sunday. After the first couple years being a success, I decided to turn the GTG into a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. One of my friends is on the tristate committee for the JDRF and he was my direct contact where all donations were passed on to. Over the years this event has raised many thousands of dollars for the JDRF. The actual fundraising aspect of this GTG revolved around a raffle. Numerous tuner shops from all over the country would donate items that would be raffled off. All proceeds from the sale of the raffle tickets would go directly to the JDRF. The last event I held (3 years ago ) had over 220 cars in attendance from all over the east coast to support this charity. Due to the birth of my son a couple years ago I had to hand over the organizational responsibility of this GTG to whomever volunteered to do it. A local car club volunteered their efforts and did a great job the first year they had it. However, their efforts ended there, and the GTG disappeared for a year. It would be very difficult for me to approach the same tuner shops again and have to explain where the GTG has been for the past couple years and have them willingly donate some items. I have chosen to use this year as a way to ramp up interest for a return of the fundraiser for next year. My friend from the JDRF is in full support of this decision and believes it is the best strategy to ensure a solid future of the event. So to be clear, the GTG this year will NOT be a fundraiser, it will be a casual GTG to gauge interest and prove to our vendors that they have nothing to fear about the legitimacy of this event/fundraiser for any future events.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation, but I felt it was necessary due to the large interest within this (350z forum) thread for the fundraising aspect of this GTG. Adam has been to this event many times, both as a casual GTG and as a fundraiser and I'm sure he can tell you that it is a fun, laid back event either way.
Thanks for listening and I look forward to meeting a lot of you this Sunday.
-Chris

I see no reason why they would Alex - if we can generate the interest in this show this time of year, it will set the stage for a future charity event (we've got some plans!)

Look forward to seeing everyone!!!

I'm assuming that since you keep posting and you're a sponsor, it's a SPONSOR event for some shop.

Not a charity...lol

But that depends on how you look at it.

Anyways I'm there and I'm bringing my friend w/ his ugly *** 325ci convertible.

Sunken Meadow is in Suffolk, right?

You obviously have 0 idea what you are talking about - and you obviously don't know me, at all, ...so please keep your comments to yourself. I am not sponsoring anything, as there is nothing to sponsor. I am simply waking up early on a Sunday, which I do anyway, and hanging with friends. Maybe you should stay home....or if you do come, at least cheer up.

There is no cost to attend the event at all....so what am I sponsoring? The event has traditionally been a VW/Audi Event since it's inception. I've gone to the event several times because of several friends I have in the VW/Audi world, as well as having owned a few Audi's over the years. A friend, who has posted in this thread, and is the organizer of the event, asked if I wanted to bring friends. I obviously know alot of people with a variety of cars that the typical attendees of this meet may not have direct exposure to, and we thought it would be a great way for a mature group of people to get together, hang out, and mix groups. So, I posted on some local boards I am involved in and invited lots of people I know to come out. If they want to come, they come, if they don't, they don't - there is no cost to go, and there is no gain for me at all, other than seeing friends I don't get to see everyday, and their cool cars.

whoa easy there buddy... Z1 (Adam) is a very good friend of mine and the whole team (TSZ33) last person i know that would be hassling people at a meet about sales would be him... if anything most of us bother him and nag him bout price quotes. but i am going to stick up for him on this one... never been anything but cool and friendly and we've shared some advices to each other, besides the fact that we are both JDM junkies LoL

besides we do big meets like this every wed. and sunday and majority of the time adam is with us late on weds just hanging at a lot drinking dunkin donuts or something... so please relax dude, if you want to attend please do but dont bring the negative attitude. thanks.

Wow let's not try to take everything so personal.

A sponsored event doesn't mean I am paying for it, it means a sponsor is paying for it.

I have 0 idea what I'm talking about, yet, you still haven't been able to tell me what the charity event is for. It's a vw/audi event. I get it. So what is the charity for? It does NOT say that in the first post despite what you may believe.

Pardon me for wanting to know what the charity is for. That was your omission.
