I brought my Z in for a simple oil change today at a dealer and experienced the expected HORRIBLE service, which I sure did receive. I *****ed and moaned to my parents about how I wanted to do the oil change myself before I even got in the car to go to the dealer, considering I only do my own maintenance usually, but I had to get it done quickly because I needed the car today to do a lot of driving and I didn't want to let the my maintenance schedule waver too much.

This was at Nissan of Norwich in Norwich, CT.

The dealer over-torqued the drain plug, didn't screw in one of the screws holding the under shroud protecting the engine, it was just hanging there so I went to Home Depot and bought another screw. I refused to even set foot on that lot again to complain about it .... and I think my car is making a slight vibrating/rattling noise when I coast in 2nd gear. It's a sound that starts then fades away within a couple seconds during coasting only in second gear....which I don't do too often. Is this sound anything to worry about?

Next question. If anything at all positive came out of this experience, it's that they focused my attention on my feathered front tires. I don't know how I missed them. I mentioned the recalls and how the Zs are known for this problem and the guy looked at me like I had two heads. He pulled the info for me, but if I didn't know anything about feathering like the average joe, I might have missed a free tire replacement and/or alignment. Unfortunately for me, he said I was out of the 36 month info by 2 months. Is there anything i can do??? I plan to get an alignment tomorrow. Can I get reimbursement or new tires or something? Or because I'm outside the window I'm screwed? Thanks for any info.

My car is an 04 with 18,800 miles. Purchased in April 2004 new.

 

Sorry to say but once you are out of the TSB for the replacement and alignment you are SOL. The clock starts ticking the minute your Z goes in service.
