Default MASS Z's Lunch/Get Together 9/6

Hi everyone!

I'm proposing a little get-together for anyone who wants to come. It would include some driving time and then lunch at TGI Friday's in Natick/Framingham.

Not sure of everyone's schedules, but I'd like to aim for Saturday, September 6th.

Here's the scoop...

10:30am - If you want to take part in the "drive" to lunch, we're going to meet in the Waverly Oaks Industrial park/strip mall parking lot located at 411 Waverly Oaks Road in Waltham. The lot closest to Yolanda's is clear on the weekend so it's a perfect spot. We can all chat for a bit and then head out around 11:00am.

The route - we'll take Rt. 60 to Rt. 20 and get onto Moody Street where we're sure to attract a lot of attention. We'll head to Rt. 30 and then grab the Mass Pike to Framingham/Natick or we can stay on 30 the whole way (depending on everyone wants to do). TGI Friday's isn't far from the Pike exit. In the back of their lot is a perfect place to park our Z's!

For those that don't want to join the "drive," can just meet up with us at the restaurant.

It's a very informal gathering, but I thought it would be cool to get some folks together for lunch, drinks, and good conversation!

Please email me at: metalstation@yahoo.com if you want to attend. I can then give you complete directions for the "drive" portion as well as directions to the restaurant if you're not gonna take part in the Z-train.

Hope to see ya'Z there!!

Deb,

I am in. Good job on the planning.

Roger,

I'm back and I'm in!

I recommend a nice "drive" through the back roads after lunch. I know many routes that are a lot of fun, even at just above the speed limit.

have to play this one by ear - will let you know

Totally missed this post until you reposted on that other thread.

Roger was trying to plan a small meet for the fall also. Talked about the cape cod canal area. Haven't heard anything on that front lately though.

Anyone going to track their car at the ZCCNE event this fall ?

Unfortunately we're going to be on the Cape next weekend so I can't make it.

As far as the other meet (sorry to hi-jack the thread Deb), I ran into a little detour but looks like everything will be good for the end of the month. Here's a tentative plan:

Date: September 27th (Saturday)
Location: Buzzards Bay area
Planned events: Drive along the shore, Pictures along the canal, BBQ at either the canal or at my brother house about 2 miles from the canal.

As I said this is just tentative and am open to any alternative suggestions. Also keep in mind the Z Convention is ~2 weeks after that (10/06 (Monday)-10/10 (Friday)). I know there are quite a few people coming from around the country to go to that so we could always push it forward two weeks on the 11th and include them. Again any suggestions appreciated.

If you respond in this thread please mention if you can make it to Deb's meet and/or the "Other" meet I suggested above. Thanks.

Roger

Hmm, I might be able to make it. It's either there or possibly Block Island on Saturday. Or, I'm bringing the car to Victor's and we're going to clay it.

Sounds like this will be a good time! I won't be able to make the pre-lunch Z-train, but I'll probably be able to meet everyone at Friday's and join any post-lunch Z-cruising. I'll check out my schedule and see if it's doable. Any other Worcester-area Z's interested in going are welcome to join me on the ride over.

Sounds good, CP2! If those who are planning on going or might go, shoot me an email at: metalstation@yahoo.com so I can do a pulse check on Friday night.

Thanks!

Count me in for both meets (Andrew, maybe we can clay during the week?).

I will ask some of our other CT friends if they would like to join us.

BTW, how far away is this from Middletown, CT (where we had the CT meet?)

Victor - are you asking about the meet that I'm planning for 9/6 or Roger's?

In case you're asking about mine - it's about 1 hour and 45 minutes (maybe less depending on traffic) from Middletown, CT to Framingham, MA. TGI Friday's is not far after the exit off the Mass Pike (exit 13). I'll be giving out full directions soon for those driving up from Waltham and those meeting us at the restaurant.

We'll be meeting at the far end closest to Yolanda's (white building)

PRE-LUNCH DRIVE TO TGI FRIDAY'S

we'll head out on the road around 11:00am
- take a left out of the lot onto Waverly Oaks Road/Rt. 60

- take a left onto Moody Street (City Hall will be on your left)

- follow Moody Street straight into Newton where it becomes Lexington Street (past Burger King)

- take a right onto Rt. 30 by the Mobil station

(IF WE DECIDE TO GO THE PIKE TO FRAMINGHAM) - follow Rt. 30 straight and follow the signs to the Mass Pike West

(IF WE DECIDE TO STICK WITH RT. 30 TO FRAMINGHAM) - follow Rt. 30 straight for about 10 miles.

- take a left at the light by the Shopper's World sign

- follow the road straight, stay in the right lane.

- take a right at the light BEFORE the light to get onto Rt. 9. Follow this road to TGI Friday's which will be on your left, across from Barnes & Noble. Park at the end of the lot to the right of the entrance.

GETTING TO TGI FRIDAY'S

Lunch time: noon

FROM 128 (NORTH & SOUTH) - Take Rt. 9 East exit and follow to Framingham/Natick. TGI Friday's is located across from Shopper's World and The Olive Garden.

FROM THE MASS PIKE (EAST AND WEST) - Take exit 13 and stay to the right after the toll (Framingham/Natick). Merge onto Rt. 30 and take your first left at the light by the Shopper's World sign. - follow the road straight, stay in the right lane.

- take a right at the light BEFORE the light to get onto Rt. 9. Follow this road to TGI Friday's which will be on your left, across from Barnes & Noble. Park at the end of the lot to the right of the entrance.

Here's a peek at their menu: http://framingham.myfridays.com/2328.html

If the weather is nice, we'll be doing an after lunch drive around the area (thanks to Matt for the suggestion!). So here's hoping we have a day like today!!

Please email me (metalstation@yahoo.com) with any questions and to let me know if you're going or might be going. I'm going to make a reservation for noon time based on the responses I get.

Hope to see ya'Z there!

Great lookin' spoiler! Let us know when you've got pics of the calipers because I've been going back and forth on painting mine.

Too bad you won't be able to come out and meet up with us for lunch.

Jeff, Victor, Andrew, I'd like to join you guys this Saturday. Will you be heading up I84? If so, I can meet you around Manchester/South Windsor. What time do you think you will leave?

Greg, great to hear you're coming as well. I-84 is definitely the quickest route for us. As to time, I guess that would depend on whether we try to get up there pre-lunch. I'm open to suggestions.

I think the CT caravan will just meet everybody at the restaurant. This will allow is together early in the morning and do any car washing if necessary.

Deb, as of now we should have 4 cars coming up from CT, how many are you expecting from MA?

I've got about 5 from MA.

Everyone pray for clear skies on Saturday so we can all take a drive after lunch!
