Hit and Run...
I figured I'd post it on here as a last resort, maybe someone from the area might know something.. but I know, very doubtful... on 6/28/09.. between 1:30 AM and 3 AM.. someone sideswiped my z.... cops believe they were drunk... as there wasn't another car on the other side of the street.. and the wheel/tire of their car (guessing it was the front passenger) was obliterated.. as in most of the lip of the wheel was on the street.. and they kept driving.... some kids saw it and say it was a black large truck... with one of those LED 3rd brake light bars under the tailgate... of course they didn't get a license number or make/model... it's almost done getting fixed, it doesn't look bad.. but the damage was more structural and mechanical then the obvious physical... estimate was at $4,600 BEFORE they found the rear frame was bent.. along with suspension, rear cross member, etc.... I've looked all over the area... drove around... asked around.. nothing. Amazes me people can just do this.. and drive the F away and not even give a sh*t.

same thing happened to my buddies 95 max the other day.. side swiped right outside his house in a hit and run.. car is so cheap the Ins wrestled with totalling it over just needing a tire and a paint job.. in the end they ended up fixing it even though it was more than 2/3 rds the value of the car to fix

Yeah it's just irritating.. but.. it should be done this Tuesday... Hasn't been too bad... I've been driving around mine and my father's 87 greenwood since, it's just funny because we have classic plates, so less than 3000 miles a year (combined I'd say we're lucky if we put 1000 on it every year), and everything that would have lasted another 4 or 5 years... broke.. lol.. in 2 weeks I've replaced everything from relays to fuel pressure regualtor to fuel strainers in the tank to the Throttle Positioning Sensor, had to clean out the fuel pump, tore off the throttle body to clean out the Idle air control, and Manifold temp sensor (pretty sure air hasn't touched either ones for 10 years) and a huge timing adjustment, but it runs like a champ lol makes me appreciate the technology in our cars...

Now do you think it is the wheel/hub or the bodywork that accounts for the half an inch difference? That would be terrible if the hub or axle is bent and they completely overlooked it... Bring that sucker back and tell them to get it right, hopefully is just the bodywork they did and it can be fixed easily

I doubt it's the body work, as all of the body lines and molding matches up perfect...I'm definitely going to say it's the whole rear assembly, becuase I guarantee its "aligned" correctly.... but the whole entire wheel assembly is forward a half an inch... and the other side isn't...

I re-read your first post where you said it had frame damage and everything, I can't believe that they gave the car back to you like that. If you can see it from a simple side to side comparison, it should smack you in the face when your looking at it on the lift..

Yeah.. I called back and said how that don't even make sense if it's off by that much, a half inch isn't an alignment issue it's something ridiculously wrong issue. I'm going to drop it back off soon, and they said if it takes any longer then tomorrow (which I'm assuming it will) they will issue me a rental. Here's a pic to give you more of an idea of the gap compared to the other side... (the drivers side was the side that was hit)

Yeah you can see especially from the first pics you posted how off it was. It looks like it was corrected a bit but not fully. I wonder what they replaced, do you have jack stands and can you lift it up and get under it and take a look at see what was repaired/replaced? I'm thinking things were just pulled back.. Maybe you should demand a replacement of all damaged parts to ensure that they are good as new? See if you can get under it... that might tell you quite a bit, given that you just got it back you should be able to tell what has been newly replaced.
I would argue that this little bit of a difference, whether repaired or not could give you issues down the road. I would push for a full replacement with new parts. With a $4600 estimate BEFORE frame damage you at least deserve all new replaced parts. ****, you could rebuild your entire back end and beef it up for that amount.

Update.... Bowser said it is a "bad upper control arm" The Body shop says they have still not givin an explanation as to how they did an alignment the first time and did not catch a half inch error... let alone if the damn thing was bent or cracked. I'm contemplating going there myself tomorrow to speak to a manager.
