NJ Inspection
My least favorite part of getting my cars inspected is having the people at the inspection station remove the old sticker and put on the new one. Invariably, they end up either not removing the entire old sticker or at least not removing all of the old glue. Then you end up with an ugly mess on the windshield that is near impossible to fix.
Two years ago, when I last got the car inspected, I asked beforehand if I could remove the sticker myself. The first guy said yes and I did it. Then, when I got inside, the other guys gave me a really hard time about not having a sticker and almost refused to inspect the car.
So, today, I asked if it would be all right if I removed the sticker after the inspection. They said it was against policy and they could not allow it. I begged and explained my reasons and tried to work out a compromise.
One guy said he would ask the manager. While waiting for her, one of the other guys started being a jerk, complaining about how unreasonable I am, and that he didn't even want to let me get my car inspected there. The worst part was when he said "it's only a 350Z; it's not even a real car."
I asked him to please not insult my car, which resulted in his commencing to insult me, instead. I told him that he should just stop talking, which led to shouting and "you don't know who I am." Needless to say, I was not amused.
Anyway, the manager called the regional manager who confirmed that they could not let me remove the sticker. Luckily, one of the other guys agreed to take extra care and even let me clean the rest of the glue off the windshield with Windex before he put the new sticker on.
Next time, I think I'll pay the money and go to a private inspection station.

LoL did you tell him when you get off, you got a present for him and his Toyota Corolla, ****ing scrubs.
When you go to a state inspection station, everyone there is paid by a state that is in an abyss of debt, with budget cuts everywhere. You cant expect the morale to be high, as you experienced. Whenever someone with a nice car comes in to get it inspected, they usually treat the owners like crap out of pure jealousy. Nothing you can do about it if you want to get your car inspected for FREE.
Ever since i started to going to private shops for inspections i've been treated very nicely and with alot of respect and that's not because i'm paying them either. I can't stand DMV employees anymore. Seems like they all hate their job. Last time i was there everyone was speaking with a sharp tone and they all looked grumpy. One time I took the family van for inspection and left the radio on Z100 and on low volume. When the van was finished inspection i sat inside and noticed the station was changed to HOT97 LOL
Yes, for the most part those guys are disgruntled. I've never met anyone who worked for DMV that was nice. My aunt was a manager at one of the DMV offices in NJ and she's the nicest person at home but if you run into her at the DMV office she's a total biotch. She lives in florida now and works at one of the DMV offices down there and she's still nasty even though she lives in a mansion, on a golf course, giant pool and two brand new cars. I think its something in the water they drink or maybe they have to keep up the reputation of being nasty people.
