Default Machine Shop

Any one know a good machine shop with VQ experience. I can't seem to find any good info on any local guys other then VTR.

I'm in CT but don't mind traveling to go to the right shop. I'd prefer a shop in the north east though.

No problem with VTR - I've already called them. Waiting for a return call. In the mean time from what I've gathered they use a machine shop for their boring and what not as well.

I'm looking for a few different options.

Thanks for the responses guys.

^ VTR wont do machine work unless you purchase a block from them. I understand they've got a good amount of R&D in short block setups - but I'm not looking for a plug and play block so they aren't going to work for me.

I'm looking for some pretty straight forward stuff - bore .020, deck, polish crank, line hone, and balance the rotating assembly.

I can't seem to find anyone locally with a torque plate so I'm willing to travel or ship.

Any suggestions would help.

If you want to ship. Contact Hal at Dynosty. They seem to put out some good engines from what I have heard and read on here. Shipping opens a whole new list of shops, as I too, am very picky when spending a good amount of money on an engine. Hence why I live in NJ and my head/block are in Orlando, FL.

Also, compare prices. It may be the same price or even cheaper to just buy a built short block from VTR or Dynosty. They do a lot in quantities when it comes to purchasing (I'm almost sure of this) so you may end up getting a deal, otherwise you have to pay for shipping a block to and from as well as buying parts and shipping them.

Good luck keep us updated.
