Default Palmer Track, MA 04/10/17 | SCDA | First HPDE

Had my first HPDE event in the Nismo at Palmer yesterday with the SCDA. Was pretty intense, even in the novice group. When I was living in Germany, I had a couple of "free day" driving events at the ring, but nothing close to this. The Palmer track is a little difficult for the novice. Haha, didn't even bother tracking times.

There were a few local Z guys there, evenly spread out between 350/370's. I ran 3 go pro cameras so if anyone was there, shout out and i may be able to find some video footage and post it on youtube or something.

My set up was just mild:
07 Nismo - 53K miles
front (30psi) - 255/40/18 Potenza s-04
rear(30 psi) - 285/35/19 Potenza s-04
-NO TUNE-
Injen CAI
Kinetix HFC's
Tanabe Y pipe
Stock Brembo's with Stoptech rotors and pads
Castrol SRF brake fluid
Motul clutch fluid
Motul Diff/trans fluid
z1 brake/clutch ss lines.

I got lucky with my instructor. It was Darius Trinka. He was there testing out a new tranny. Was glad to have someone with experience tracking Z's to serve the "helpless". I most likely tested his patience... but he stayed calm and informative, which helped with my nerves i already had. So shout out to Darius.

I watched his Youtube videos before going to the track and didn't even realize until I got home later that day.

Nice I thought about going to one of the track days their because I live relatively close by... Unfortunately I am a little bit too much of a cheapskate to shell out the fees.

i agree as well. With the club yearly subscription and the cost of the event, mine was 350, it can get pricey. It is worth it though. You have someone assisting with the turns and you get to ride the Z like it should.

haha, tell me about it. I installed HFC's on my 07 and I can't even get the check engine light to go away. I installed a 90 degree o2 extender, didn't work. I added an additional o2 extender on top of that, still didn't work.

Thompson run was awesome. Lots of rain, but was an experience. Darius T. was there again with his team. Was lucky to snag him for an instructor again. Thompson was much easier in terms of gaining confidence in comparison to Palmer. Gave D. my car for a few laps and tore it up. Just amazing...

with the light rain, my potenza s01's were at about 5 1/2 32.nds. What ever you threw at it, the Gizmo just handled it. Highly recommend Thompson for the beginner. Pics coming soon...

Another shout out to Darius T.!

Hey guys,

I'd like to bring my Z to one of these track days. I've never driven on a track before, does the SCDA have any special requirements besides just paying the $375 or so day pass and joining the beginner group? Do I need a yearly subscription for SCDA or have to take racing classes before being able to sign up? Thanks!

Nope. Just need to register to the SCDA and pay the event fees. You get a discount on the first one. I paid for the Thompson Oct. 2 event. I'm tying to get my Stillen S.C. tuned on my nismo and find an event or 2 in September.
