Default Whew.

So tonight I'm sitting at home bored, and decided to drive down to Barnes and Noble and tool around for a while. I stuck around for 30 minutes or so reading a mag article about 350Z versus M3/Z06/911, then it was time to go.

I go out to the otherwise empty parking lot to find that THREE Issaquah cops have come to park right next to my Z. They are all just standing around outside talking, watching me closely as I went to my Z and fired it up. I'm sitting there mortified that I'm either going to stall the car or chirp the tires on accident.

The day I picked up my Z, I pulled into Bellevue for food. My friend said, "Dude, both the cops in that car are POINTING at us."

Oh man, this car is going to get me in so much trouble

They cops outside the bookstore were probably just jealous that you could read.

Default Being pulled over

Hi Jason, I have been pulled over 4 times now in my Z.......the first time was within 12 hours of buying it. Mostly for no front plate, which was just an excuse for a look see...they always say"this is the first time I have seen one, mind if I look" You know they want one or they are dying to drive one. Most of the cops I know have a fast personal car...mostly corvettes go figure. Marcy

I gotta say, I haven't gotten a speeding ticket since I drove a Dodge Neon. Once I got a real sports car I actually became LESS of a target. Cool

Driving the NSX I even had a cop ignore me to pull over a Civic once. That was interesting

I'm sure I'll get pulled over plenty for no front plate. I did in the other cars, but never got a ticket. I think a front plate on the Z would look horrid. I won't even get into what I think of the law that requires them

Kind of suprises me about the Corvettes though.

Hey Guys, I live in Silverdale (across the water) and have decided not to run the front tag either. So far, so good. I have had a few County Sheriffs run up on the car on the highway, but no tickets yet. Do you guys know how much the fine is per chance?

$86 per occurrence. They can issue a "repair" ticket, which means if you go down to a station and show them that it's been installed, you can get the ticket removed, but that's it.

I have had mine with no front plate since August of 02, been stopped 2+ times, and never heard a word about it.

The key is: pass the "attitude test" when you get pulled over. If you do, stuff like no front plate doesn't get mentioned. If you're a jackass, they'll go looking for things to bust you on.

Two month's ago a kid I work with got a ticket for no front plate, his was for $187 and a moving violation. This was only for the front plate missing, the judge dropped the ticket to $40, but the moving violation still went on his record.

Wow that's pretty expensive, last time I got a ticket here in Cali. it was 25$ (Not a fix it ticket no more). After the third ticket I heard it becomes a moving violation.

Yeah, I've heard they have the option of giving you a moving violation, I've never seen it done though.

What's the kid drive?

lol. About 3 weeks ago I was on my way to the airport and there was an accident at an intersection. There was a light rain, and all traffic had stopped for the ambulance personnel to unload some people out of the rear-ended car. There wasn't a whole lot of damage to either cars, but it looked like they'd complained of whip-lash so they were doing ambulances. ( I've been rear-ended before, and it ain't pleasant) I was at the front of the line waiting to get by and I hear this rapping on my window. The cop that was doing traffic control wanted to talk. I don't run a front plate either, and I thought it might be that. So I roll down the window and he grins at me from ear to ear and says, 'Man, that is one sweet ride. The color just rocks!' He looked inside and said 'and NAV too?! Man, I gotta get me one of these! Looks like a lot of fun!' With that he gave me a thumbs up and walked away.
