Default The Pacific Northwest vs. Winter - Round 2!

Just wondering how many guys out there are managing through this second round of winter weather?

I heard from a buddy that he saw a 350Z crashed against a guard rail this morning on Hwy 509 in Seattle. I hope that wasn't anyone here.

This Arctic front is really dropping temperatures in a hurry...luckily my Z isn't a daily commuter as I'd be scared to death of black ice!

Been driving my subaru. AWD is great in this weather. I would be scared to drive my Z in all that ice. I saw a g35 this morning and he looked like he was having some problems with traction.

Nissan Frontier 4x4 FTW! I'm so glad I have it this time around. Kicked it into 4WD leaving the house this morning and I was able to charge up the hill I live on w/ no problems what so ever.

I'm not to keen on all the rain, but snow days FTW! I took our little Honda CR-V out last night (b/c we lost power...) and saw tons of cars stuck on the roads. The Z is sit'n pretty w/ the hood up...just installed some new toys!

I vanpool into work, and there were a couple of Zs that looked like they were stuck last night.

The Armada woks great in the snow, although I sometimes wish I had another car to drive.

8" of snow - 4.5" of ground clearance = no driving.

I left my G at home last night and had my bro pick me up on his 06 F150, in 4x4 mode that thing doesn't feel any ice/snow whatsoever! As for today, I just slept in and skipped work. Don't even need to call in sick lol ... its great to be your own boss

Went boarding yesterday, and it took 5 hrs to get home in the traffic. Luckily we were in a 4x4 with some skills behind the wheel. Ended up stranded at my buddy's house overnight. We made the best of it, though, and built a kicker (jump) on a hill around midnight. Hit it (on our snowboards) for a couple hours.

Look at that bulge:

Nice pics. You know..... I think a two toned Z/G might look hot; white on the top half and a darker color on the lower half.

Been driving my SC Z with no problems. I am from NY so driving in the snow is nothing for me. Just have to be careful with the rear end and gas pedal. There were a couple of days that I did not take any chances.

it's still icy depending on what time of the day it is...our AWD honda doesn't have a problem, but I'm not sure about the Z. If you go, you might want to wait until midday when some of it's melted.

well tonight i just tried heading up to my friend's house on cougar mountain...sad to say i couldn't make it up to the top because of the ice on the surface... had to park the Z at some parking lot 2 mi down the hill and had my friend pick me up... kind of embarassing when there were other rwd cars that made it... numerous cars including accord and fordfocus blew right past me as i struggled to go uphill... my friend's 330Ci was able to make it up to the top.. could be because he had all seasons...

Yeah, when it comes to driving in snow and ice, it comes down to what's making contact w/ the road/ice. You'd be a lot better off attempting to drive around w/ M+S tires. A lot of people think FWD is better in the snow, but that's considering the majority of the population when it comes to driving. A RWD w/ good tires that'll grip in snow/ice will be better off than FWD cars w/ the same tires (in most cases)...BUT... you can get into a lot more trouble in a RWD than you can in a FWD.

All that said... 4WD FTW!
