Default Different Service Experiences with Nissan Fife vs Auburn

Hey guys I know I never post but I love to read! I figure I'd share my experience from the 2 nearest Nissan Dealerships before I attempt to journey out to Bellevue.

A basic run down: I get an occasional 3rd / 4th gear grind (i think it may be my syncros). I'm @ 57,000 miles, so I'm covered under the drive train warranty if there is something wrong with the tranny.

I first call Nissan of Auburn and ask for the service department. I briefly explain that I have a 2003 350z and occasionally get a 3rd/4th gear grind. I get xfered to another guy who asks me where I bought my car and if I bought a warranty from the other dealer (no i didn't). He then proceeds to tell me that it's probably bent forks from shifting too hard and I will have to pay for new forks. I tell him thanks and goodbye.

Next I call Nissan of Fife and ask to be transferred to their service department. I explain to the guy on the phone my problem and that I've heard of issues regarding 2003 transmissions going out and probably a bad 3rd / 4th syncro (same story told to Auburn). He next tells me to bring her in so one of the techs can drive it around and if they can see any evidence of grinding that they will replace the tranny under warranty. Simple as that.

Next week I'll be taking in my Z and hopefully replaced with a CD0009 tranny . Wish me luck guys!

my .02 cents!

btw.. hello everyone, maybe one day I will join your Z meets

I've been having problems with my tranny as well. But it's been 2nd gear that I have a hard time getting into. 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th are all fine. I'm assuming it's the syncros. I bought my car as a trade in from an Audi dealer, with no extra warranty. It's got just under 50k on it, and is a 2003.

Do I have any kind of factory Warranty left? What's a CD0009 tranny?

Does my 2003 have a 5 year/60,000 mi drive train warranty? I read on another post that 2004's do.

yes, the 5/60k drivetrain warranty will cover you transmission. They won't replace any wear/tear items (clutch... bearings) but if your transmission is acting up I'd definitely take it in.

CD0009 tranny is the newer model transmission that allot of people have had replaced with in their Z's with broken/bad transmissions.

I bought a car from Nissan of Fife a few years ago, not a Nissan, but a car nonetheless. It had several problems when I first bought it and they were more than happy to take care of all of them without a fuss. I have dealt with them on several occasions and would highly recommend them.
