We're not dumping on the guy. We've already established we like him. It's the decision, the history, and repercussions.

But, we definitely do need to hear from him about what happened.

ya, the tow/storage fees alone is gunna be a small mint. brian is a good guy though, hopefully the time away from work and bills (was the first of the month) doesn't really put him under. granted, not a good thing to do, but not sure it is worth going into ruins over if nobody else got hurt.

We all make dumb decisions... thankfully no one was hurt, but if true it will cost him alot -- hopefully his (Z) friends will still support him.
main thing is that noone was hurt. not gonna condone what he did at all but there does seem to be alot of dumping on him. im just hoping that the people saying stuff arent the ones that noticed him drinking that much. from what it seems like, he was drinking alot and went to eat with people after the meet. not one person could have said "whoa man, hold on you shouldnt drive yet."

Well we heard after the fact how much he had been drinking, couple beers no problem but 18?? I didn't see him drinking at the event but I was busy mingling and such , we arent dumping on him just to be asses, you all should think about what the aftermath of someone drinking ALOT then driving is , don't just condone it for the sake of starting an internet arguement because you can... Do you know him? I am trying to get the facts from the state patrol i sent in the form for the public records so I will know soon, it concerns me when all of our reputations are on the line if he comes to one of our meets then drives off and kills someone then you are responsible in a way. Right??

I'm not from Oregon originally, and I do get that impression as well. In Oregon (at least in the county I live in) your first DUI almost always get put on diversion. Which is to say you get a slap on the wrist.

I am not trying to be a hypocrite, because I have a DUI as well, so I am not going to be preachy. I got one when I was 17, in New York. And they *** RAPED me. It was ugly - the exorbant fines, legal fees, and revoked license. Technically they can put you in jail for a year on your first offense. But I haven't picked up a set of car keys after drinking since, and that was 7 years ago now. So maybe there is something to be said for tough love.

whoa whoa whoa. i said im NOT gonnna condone what he did. ive only met him a few times but he seems like a cool guy. but drunk driving is stupid no matter what. not trying to start an arguement online cause its pointless. i mean who knows, arresting him and impounding his car could be the best thing for him. and im not blaming anyone else but him for his actions, but wasuber what you mentioned is what i tried to imply. there was a big group of people from this forum that hung out, during the meet and apparently afterwards. im saying it IS his fault for driving, but someone still should have told him not to. because it does reflect on everyone else, whether you want it to or not.

interesting...well underage DUI is a bit different, but that kind of hefty fine, legal, liscence suspension trouble is what I'm familiar with as far as penalties.

I guess things vary alot between states/localities. I mean it's one thing to have a few drinks at dinner and then drive home(tons of people do it) and maybe you get caught. Ok, you shouldnt be burned at the stake for that...but multiple times is what gets me.

I know third DUI will at least get you suspended license and jail time. You might be able to get away if you have a good lawyer but that's gonna cost him a lot of yen. Not to mention cost to get the car out of impound. Several thousands at least.... Hope he's alright in jail right now...

still no word from him yet. all i know is that they impounded a car with his plate number on it and they still had it. that was just a few days ago. even if he was out and not able to get his car, i'm sure he would have called back one of my messages or atleast signed in here.
one of my friends got 3 in ten years and they locked him up for almost a year!! didn't think they could hold you for that long though. thought you would be free till charged then sentenced? maybe there is more to the story.
