World One BBQ Rock Band Official Tournament Rules
Tournament Format
The Rock Band Tournament will have two parts. The first part is a qualifying round, starting from 1:00 pm and going to 3:00 pm. During this 2-hour session, each band competes to have the highest score possible on the song "Learn to Fly" by Foo Fighters. Bands can repeat and try to get a higher score as many times as possible during the the qualifying round. Only the band's highest score will be used for qualifying. Open gaming is also welcome during this session, but preference will go to bands who will be competing.
At the end of the qualifying round, the top 4, 6, or 8 band scores will go on to the tournament bracket, depending on how many bands actually participate. 4 bands will be required for a 4-seed bracket, 6 bands required for a 6-seed bracket, and 8 bands required for the 8-seed bracket. Each band will then be placed in a bracket based on their qualifying score, and will be matched up tournament style. For example, in an 8-seed bracket:
1 vs. 8
2 vs. 7
3 vs. 6
4 vs. 5
From this point, the band with the higher seed chooses the song, but the band with the lower seed chooses the difficulty. Song choice from the entire list below is available at this point, however the lower seed has the option of not doing a DLC (Downloadable Content) song. Each difficulty is assigned a tier number:
Easy - 1
Medium - 2
Hard - 3
Expert 4
The total number of tier numbers for the bands much match for difficulty. For example:
1 expert, 2 medium, 1 easy: 6 tiers
1 hard, 3 easy: 6 tiers
The band who scores the most points on the given song will move on to the next round. In the unlikely event of a tie, a tie breaker song will be decided by tournament officials.
The final 2 bands at the end of the tournament bracket will commence in an epic band battle for the prizes. The format is similar, but the difference is that both bands get to choose 1 song to challenge the opposing band, for a total of 2 chosen songs. The opposing band gets to choose the difficulty, and the winner of both songs will be crowned champion. In the event that both bands win 1 song each, the two bands will compete against each other on a surprise song chosen by tournament officials. The winner of the tiebreaker song will then be crowned champion.
Regulations
1. Each band must have 4 members. Each band member is not restricted to using the same instrument the entire tournament, but the band members cannot change mid-tournament. If a band loses a member mid-tournament, or a band member is not present with their band during their competition bracket, they are required to forfeit or will be disqualified.
2. The instruments provided include a drum set, microphone, 1 wireless Guitar Hero guitar, and 1 wired Rock Band guitar. Participants may choose to bring their own instruments, but they are responsible for connecting their own instruments, along with reconnecting the provided instruments after their turn is over.
3. Bands are required to have a band name that is PG-13, as this BBQ is a family event.
Prizes
To make this tournament worth-while, we are striving to provide worthy prizes for the tournament winners. Our goal is to ensure that the prizes will be as universal as possible, as not to favor certain makes or models. Please keep in mind however that these prizes are going to each band member, so please don't expect something like full coilovers suspensions for each band member
As prizes are decided, we will update this section. For now, here's what we have lined up at the moment:

- One (1) 16x24 Professional Gloss Print of your car, professionally taken by Armin H. Ausejo (print-only normally $49.13 + shipping)
- Three (3) Bottles of Motul DOT5.1 Brake Fluid (normally $19.50 + tax total)
COBB Tuning Individual Rockstar Prizes for any band member from any band (person most into acting like a true rockstar on stage)
- Best Rockstar: COBB Tuning Accessport for 350Z (normally $695 + tax)
- Rockstar 1st Runner Up: One (1) COBB Tuning SF Intake for 02-07 WRX/STI (normally $150 + tax)
- Rockstar 2nd Runner Up: One (1) COBB Tuning SF Intake for Evo 8-9 (normally $115 + tax)
