wrx to z????
haha i dont know any college kids with a z and a subie... z's have always been at the top of my car list and now they're actually reasonably priced. the subie is also an attention grabber, and i want to just cruise w/o haveing people trying to "race" me all day, it gets kind of irritating.

Just get an Evo and show them up on the track if you're really annoyed. Actually I feel like I stood out a lot more with the Z. The Evo is a lot stealthier but I think it's also the direction I took with the Evo versus the Z.

The ones looking for sports 2 doors expensive cars won't last anyways. One day your 350z will be replaced by a 370z, and the g35 is already replaced by the 370z.
No matter what, my point is that it doesn't matter what a girl - or anyone for that matter - thinks of your car. You got to enjoy it and that's what matters. I have had from cowboy hatted guys in lifted trucks as well to an old guy in a Porsche GT3 complimented on my Evo IX MR (example: at the XXX meet in Issaquah)
I think most people need to open their minds up and realize that performance cars all have credits due to them. If you keep a closed mind and smack talk a car just because it's different without ever driving it (or lie about driving one before etc) then you're no better than that S2K guy smash talking a 350z without ever driven one.
The Evo is a purely enthusiast minded beast. If you don't like performance cars, you won't buy an Evo. You will not find them in Hertz's fun-car collection but you'll find them in tuner shops, home garages, tuned to 300whp+ on a regular basis. It's just a different type of car for a different type of tuner. I myself have had plenty of "fun" in my 350z - having a sweet exterior setup, etc. With my Evo I have taken a more "peformance" approach, thus, I haven't done a single exterior modifcation that costs more than $100 (wheels are performance weighing 17lbs
). Before the Evo I would never spend money on $3k (retail) coilovers! But being surrounded by Colin, Drew, Dave, Pat, I can't help but go performance now. One day I will focus on exterior again but for now performance all the way! She's lightly tuned at 275awhp but with my new setup its easily 330whp which should be plenty for the streets.

Plus, think about it, the girls you really want to talk to are the ones who have a decent knowledge or at least is informed about performance cars. And most people who are legitimately informed about cars knows that the Evo VIII/IX is one of the best handling sports car (2drs&4drs included) under 40k! Yes they do have their downfalls as well such as a weak stock clutch but that's like saying the Z has a cheapo interior - Significant? Not really - I still loved my Z even though it rattled like ***. Taken into consideration when spoken about a car? Yes
