Default Exhaust: Nismo vs Nismo S-Tune

Somebody here from NW forum (Pacwfu?) explained the difference between NISMO vs NISMO S-Tune exhaust. The latter having a smaller dia tip? I can't find that thread where he explained it.

Also, there's no posting (on youtube) of just the Nismo exhaust w/out any HFCs, CAI, modded Y-ppe or TP so its hard to gauge the sound accurately. I know the Nismo retains the VQness sound, but just a little louder and doesn't lose power on the bottom end. A lot of people are talking sheit about the Nismo just being a little louder than stock...blah, blah, blah, go with HKS TD. Getting confused since sound is so subjective.

Looking to buy from West Covina Niss soon. Any help is appreciated.

My buddy has the Nismo catback on his Z. I heard it when he had just the exhaust alone, and then with an Injen CAI, and then with those and a Crawford plenum as well. It sounded great in all iterations. It really is the closest to stock tone, but amplified. The Greddy SP2 works similarly, which I had previously with an Injen CAI and Topspeed headers, and then with the Stillen S/C. From what I'm told, the Fujitsubo exhaust also does the same.

Are you going for preformance or presence? In both cases I think the HKS is the better option. The Nismo systems are really only good if you don't want to attract any unwanted attention and like a little more lowend torque as opposed to top end power gain.
