Default Where is a good spot to get a quality tune?

So I'm new to the z comunity, and was looking for some advice for a good shop to tune my car. I have full exhaust, intake, pletum spacer and a 100 shot, I have a cobb access port on the way so I need two maps. One for daily driving and one for the 100 shot! Any advice would be nice, I just switch to my z from a subaru wrx.

On the cobb you have can you adjust everything yourself or do you have to be a cobb dealer to tune the car?

Intec Racing in Kent can tune your car so it has five different maps. I've been happy with Lawrences' tune and he tuned out many of the bugs I had while using the Techno flash/UTEC. Tell Lawrence that Travis referred you.....maybe we'll both get some sort of discount.

I know Lawrence, I just wasn't sure how reliable his tunes are. I take it your car runs good?

I'm pretty sure you can buy the software to tune it your self, but I don't trust myself to tune, I want my car to last!

Tim Bailey at Surgeline. Coming from a Suby, you should already know the name.

I had several tuning related issues from my previous tuner using a Techno/UTEC setup that lasted all of 2 months. Overall, going FI has been a 3 month PITA but I finally went to Intec where Lawrence and Jared from Uprev collaborated to make my Z run well enough to be a daily driver again. He almost totally cured my hotstart issue with the 600 injectors so that it's nothing compared to what it was before. He also measured peak whp at 403 where it was 386 on the previous tune (both Dyno Jets).

The only remaining issue I have is whether I'll pass emissions or not. I went in after racking ~100miles and the state told me 3 of 4 parameters had incomplete drive cycles. If the cycles don't complete, Lawrence says he can add a map that will allow me to pass the "sniffer" test.

....now that it's driveable, I need to see about getting my PLXs (AF / vacboost) installed so I can start monitoring my engine.

English racing has 2 of the best tuners in the u.s. Aaron and Lucas prove time and time again that they are heads and tails above the rest

don't they mainly tune cars with FI? I haven't seen anything na come out of there.

tuning na and making great power is much harder than tuning with boost and making mega power...

After all these years, I still don't get what the hell does that have to do with anything? APS TT vs. Vortech S/C? You've got to know how stupid that sounds...

Anyways, World One doesn't show us any love. They're a site sponsor but they don't offer any good deals. I've never had a quote from them that was even remotely cheaper than out-of-state vendors. You shouldn't have to buy $6K in parts from them + install to get a good deal. I don't know all of them, but a couple of them are Grade A douchebags. I don't like to use that term too much, since it's so overused these days, but it's really the best way to describe it. Friendly to your face prior to a sale, and then you see the truth. Has to do with their generally shitty elitist attitude, ****-poor customer service, lack of follow-up, etc...

I'd never refer anyone to support a local shop that doesn't support the local community, other than wanting your green.

very true to a point. There are some people there that I don't care for, and generally don't speak to when I do end up going there. There are however 2 people that I will deal with, and I only talk numbers with the owner. He built 2 of my brother's WRX's, and his EVO, prior to me even meeting him, so I started off pretty good. I have spoken with them many times now about having them do more things for the Z community (other than the nice BBQ each year). It's hard to get someone there to watch the Z forums, because there is really only 3 people there that know about them. The 2 owners and the mechanic. Wade their mechanic is amazing. I saw how he had to custom fab some things for my turbo kit because it wasn't really designed for the rev-up motor, so he made the parts work. He can also work on just about everything since he came from like 10+ years working on honda's and some other lower end cars (240 etc.) Now he primarially works on subbie's and evo's, but truely enjoys working on the Z. The had a turbonetics Z in there on the racks last time I was there, and he had a big smile on his face. Wade also custom built his own CRX that won battle of the imports down at pacific raceways a couple years back, and held the title (till the 2 supra's came). I think he was running low 10's IIRC. Pretty impressive for something that he put together in his spare time.
