Wink Driving like an *******

I did it. I made it from work to my house using no gas what so ever. Take that Eric! Prius was plugged in all night with a full fuel cell. I had to coast to stop lights and drive off all slowly, pissed a bunch of people off who flew around me. But it was worth it. I had to drive 9 mph up the large hill by my house but there was no one behind me. That is all.

I drove a rental Altima hybrid from LA to SF and back, and that thing is a piece of shit. MPG averaged only low 30's, and it's extremely rough when the engine shuts off and turns on. Feels like you're stalling out when reversing or parallel parking on a hill. Nissan hybrid technology is utter garbage.

In contrast, I drove a rental Prius around for awhile, and the car feels solid and well-built. Although it was boring and slow with body roll and wooden brakes, it got fantastic gas mileage and transitioned almost seamlessly between full electric/gas engine modes. I averaged nearly 50mpg with city driving and even a long roadtrip to the WA coast.

The messed up thing is, the Altima uses toyotas Synergy Drive. Even though it felt like crap, its basically the same thing as in the Camary. I cant stand the Prius, it drives like mush, has way too much body roll, no feeling in the wheel and after 10,000 it gets loud. Oh well, I bet a Tesla is fun though.

Hybrid Synergy Drive, (HSD) is a set of hybrid car technologies developed by Toyota and used in the company's Prius, Highlander Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, Lexus RX 400h/RX 450h, Lexus GS 450h, Lexus LS 600h/LS 600hL, and Lexus HS 250h automobiles. It is also used in the Nissan Altima Hybrid

Alvin: how do you manage 20 mpg? I average 17 mpg.

Imo, you don't need a hybrid to get descent mileage. My 97 civic with 218000 still avg around 25 or better.

I got 14-15 on my 03 which was TERRIBLE. I don't know why but that's what it got...so I guess it varies?

My new 03 got 26 driving from NorCal which was nice. Now it gets between 20-24 combined city/highway but then again it's only a weekend driver so it doesn't usually traffic. This is calculated by miles per tank - not by the little clock we got in the car.

The previous Z had: Stillen Intake, HKS True-Dual Catback Exhaust

New Z has: ARC Radiator, Amuse Titan Intake Pipe, Gruppe-M CF Intake, Motordyne 5/16 Plenum Spacer, Strup SS Headers, Berk HFCs, Amuse Titan R1000 Y-Pipe, Amuse Titan R1 Catback Exhaust. Supposedly SUNauto said their HyperForce and HyperGround system helps with gas mileage but I can't verify that - though I have both.
