for those of you that are yet to plan something for tomorrow (sat) There is a big group of us playing in a fundraiser game of football. It will be held at Perrigo Park in Redmond, and start at 3pm. A good friend of ours broke both his arms in a freak accident while playing football with us. The fundraiser is to help with the medical bills since his insurance was yet to kick in with his new job. We have rented the field there, and we rented the cabana for a bbq as well. Here is the original e-mail that I received about it for those that are interrested:
Hey everybody,
As some of you may/may not know, a good friend of mine was severely
injured in a recreational flag football game last weekend. He suffered
two broken arms, one of which will require surgery. Hutch recently
graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in
electrical engineering and started a job with the Department of
Defense just two weeks ago. Unfortunately, it does not appear that his
medical insurance was effective at the time of his injury and his
bills will likely have to be payed in full by him. Needless to say, it
won't be cheap. He is unsure of whether he will be able or allowed to
work with two broken arms and his future is thus uncertain to say the
least... which brings me to my point.
In the name of irony, we will be holding a flag football fundraiser in
the hopes that we can help put a dent in Hutch's bills. Time is of the
essence in this case because some of the payment plans for the medical
bills involved forgive certain percentages based on timely repayment.
Half of the field will be reserved for a competitive tournament with
serious players. The other half will be co-ed and less intense for
those who want to participate at a slower pace. The event will be held
this Saturday and the weather should be nice, but there is a large
shelter at the site along with full restrooms for men and women. There
is also a playset for children if you want to bring them along. I also
encourage you to attend even if you have no interest in playing. The
shelter has several BBQs which we can use for free and spectators are
welcome and wanted.
Here are the details:
When: Saturday, March 20th, 2010; 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Where: Perrigo Park, Field 1
9011 196 Avenue NE
Redmond, WA 98052
We're requesting a donation of $20 per person, but we also understand
that the economy sucks right now. Show up even if you can only offer
moral support; any donation will be seen as icing on the cake! No RSVP
is necessary, but if you know for sure that you'll be there, send me a
quick email so I can pick up an appropriate number of hot dogs and
hamburgers.
Lastly, please pass this on to anybody I may have missed that knows
Hutch, anybody that you think might be interested in helping a good
cause, or anybody who likes football!
If you have any questions, please contact me at 425-221-7237.
Thanks everyone... and hope to see you there!!
