that does suck. one of the reasons why one of my first mods = paging alarm. doesn't guarantee anything but at least gives me a fighting chance : P

What recommendations do you guys got for security that will text your cell phone? I mean, what if you park way in the back of a movie theater parking lot and your page signal is too far away. You'll never hear it beep.

I picked up a clifford (same company as Viper/other names etc) model with a 1 mile range (barring no objects in between, shortens the distance).

I am on the 7th floor and park two blocks away in Seattle and it reaches. Never been to a movie theater where it didn't reach (I am paranoid and always test the range by hitting arm and seeing if it can reach or not.. : P)

I picked it up before the SMS-page alarms were really on the market though, so no real valuable feedback there. given the option at the time I purchased I would like to have that feature, and would pay 50-100$ more to have it, but I don't see the cost benefit of upgrading (personally) with how far away I park from my car. seems to work for me.

Do you know any companies you can list off, that you know of, that does a "text your phone" upgrade or product? Anybody can chime in on this as well.

the high end viper systems have the capability, and that's probably the largest name in auto security. there may be phone limitations (iphone), may not.

needs some research.

this car was stolen while the salesman was trying to sell it..not a security system issue.. the customer was checking out the interrior and decided to throw it in D and pin it... almost hitting the salesman... he just took off

I think you need to go back and re-read what Entaille and I were discussing. What Entaille and I were discussing had nothing to do with how this car got stolen. I was just asking if anybody knew of any security systems that would "text" your phone because I am interested in getting one. I called a local CarToys and asked if they had anything. They said Clifford Smart Start has it.

oh, didn't know you worked at a dealership. when I hear car stolen at work that is the last place I figure a car would be stolen. bummer.

new policy - must give ID to sit inside vehicle.. ha ha.

edit - yeah, goose and I took this one off topic either way, but I still didn't understand it fully until haulinz clarified.

A grand... like $1,000 dollhairs? It better have some flame throwers and laser beams or something.

doesn't sound off. high end alarms when I was in the market (year and a half+) were around a grand installed at local shops. I lucked out and a local that used to be on the Z forums named Pete was doing installs during his spare time, and had a hook up on the unit costs. ended up being around 600$.
