Default PDX: Anyone with Tire feathering?

Noticed over the past few weeks that the wheels seem to be making a bit more noise at slower speeds and when I'm slowing down (under 30mph). I'm hoping I'm just being paranoid because of all the people who have had issues with the tires, but I don't have any experience in telling if the tires are feathering or not. They don't look funny and I can't tell anything by running my hand over the tread.

Anyone in the Portland area have any experience with tire feathering on the Z and wouldn't mind meeting up to check my tires out?

If you can't feel the problem by running your hand over the tread then your tires are probably fine. The leading edge of each tread block on the outer most part of the tire should be "sharp" to the touch, making the whole outside shoulder of the wheel sorta like a circular saw blade (over exaggeration).

I had it correct at the dealership about 4k miles ago. The "sharp" edges are still there, but they haven't gotten any worse since it was corrected. I am noticing that they are starting to wear down as the tire normally wears and that the "sharp" edges are starting to dull. Pretty much what the dealership told me what would happen.

I thought the issue was on the inner portion of the tire...

I guess depending on if you're toed-in or tored-out you'll get the feathering on either the inside or outside of the tire.

I think if it's toed-in you get the feathering on the outside shoulder. They toed-out my wheels a little and it corrected the problem.

Mine were on the inside of the wheel. Turn the wheels full lock, and look at the inside edge. You'll actually see a zig zaggy pattern like this: (/|_/|_/|) instead of smooth like this (-_-_-).

My tires are finally getting replaced after having the TSB done once at about 7k miles. I'm almost at 11 and the roaring noise is back.

Good luck.

Default 2007 350Z Front Tires Feathering!!!

Yes!! My 2007 350Z front tires were severely feathered at 8350 miles. You will hear a roaring-howling noise at low speeds ( 10-30 MPH ) when cruising or when slowing down. Nissan replaced both front tires under warranty and performed an alignment free of charge. Today I have 14830 miles on the car and guess what? Roaring - Howling noise is back and tires are feathered again. This vehicle since i bought it has been aligned 4 times. I have treated the car with due care still have tread on the back for another 5000 miles or so. I balance my tires every 5k. I have contacted nissan and have asked them to replace the tires with a different brand such as michellin pilot ps2 or Pirelli Rosso System. I will post comment when I get denial or approval from nissan.
