Default Tire for the Z

I test drove a 350z the other day. basically in the works on getting one. Anyway the day i drove it, it was raining. the stock tires were basically useless in the rain. what kind of tire are locals running here. also was thinking about running all season tire all year, anyone have experience with all season in our winters?
thanks

I ran Yokohama S.drives on my G out there...perfect for the buckets of water and still gave a very decent grip in the dry! I felt like it was a good compromise, and other than the like 2 days it actually snowed in Seattle, I drove on the Yoko's all season! hehe

I use Yokohama S.Drives as well. My favorite rain or shine tire.

S-drives are a summer tire and I have never used them in the snow, I wouldn't recommend it. Besides, it rarely snows here anyways.

hankook h105s are my favorite performance all season - great in dry and wet and just passable in the snow - about all we need for our mild winters here.

I ran a number of summer tires that were comparable performance (fk 452, ps2s, t1r's). I don't even really notice that they are all seasons, the sidewall holds up well in the corners. keep in mind I'm on AWD on the h105's and the summer tire choices above were in my Z.

I use RE-11s. Great tire, but only in the summer. Car hibernates in the winter.

Potenza RE-11 is great dry and really good in rain as well... I was surprised my self. Way better than Nitto or stock potenza.

I live in the foothills of the Smokey Mtns. in western NC and drive on a lot of very curvy mountain roads. My 2006 GT came with Yokohama S.drives that were mentioned by a couple of members. I try not to drive in the rain, but when I have had to drive the steep mountain roads in rain the tires have performed great. I never felt any slipping around and basically the car drove the same as when I drive on dry roads. I should mention that the GT model comes with 19" rims in the back and 18" up front. Also, I'm running 275/35R on the rear, which is what came on the car when I bought it used this past February.

I've got a few customers running the Yokohama S drives and they all seem very pleased.

I drove my G all year (Inc Nov/Dec) and the car went perfectly. No VDC freakouts and no skidding to stops. Mind you I never drove the G with snow on the ground with my S.drives on. If you're really worried about snow conditions (which you shouldn't get very many days of there) invest in a set of snow tires/wheels, it cannot be beat by any "all season" setup.

I have also survived the Spokane Winter of DEATH (48" of snow in 20 hours + more that week) And the G was AMAZING according to all other's accounts of how these cars perform in the snow. I have a set of 17" rims with Aplin's on them and the G was flawless through FEET of snow (before I was lowered) So yea, with the right "snow driving" attitude any car is capable with a good set of snow tires.

My potenza 50a in front are finally wearing out. I had a lot of understeer with re11 in back. Gonna try 255 vice 245. Hopefully that should increase my contact patch and decrease the understeer. Has anyone see 255/35/19 for less than 300.00 a pop?
