Default smoosh

I ended up driving up to the city today because I was too late to catch the Baby Bullet. I pulled into the parking garage and, well, I should've known better than to try to park between an SUV and a pillar, but there was enough space. I had to go back and forth a few times to get it in place. But, during one of those times, I heard a little crunch. Farg, I thought.

Sure enough, by the time I finished parking, and got down to look, the area between the rear quarter panel on the passenger side and the rocker panel had been smooshed/flattened ever so subtly, and lots of paint taken off. It can best be described as one big-*** paint flake.

It doesn't seem to have broken through to the sheet metal, but I could be mistaken. Where there was paint taken off, there is a dull, light grey color; I take it that that's the base layer of paint. If so, then it should be a simple matter of unsmooshing the area and repainting.

So here's the question. Where can I get that done without breaking my wallet?

I would reference the unofficial automotive repair thread that is stickied in the NorCal section, but really sorry to hear Bruce (but good to hear that you got back safely from Asia ). If what you are seeing is grey, then it is most likely the primer... I remember a paint chip that I had that took off that grey section as well and I saw metal. It rusted

Good luck

Isn't it just depressing when something like that happens. If only we can just keep our babees flawless like the first day that'd be great.

I had a ding like that the first week I got her and thought that it went into the paint but the Dent Wizard dude did a great job and was able to buff it out.

Two more days and counting till I get mine back after being the the shop for over a month.

Excited except for the fact that I just spoke to them and it might not be till Monday. I'm like WTF is that when you guys had a month and pretty much stated that the completion date was Dec 10th. They haven't even painted the car yet so I don't want them to rush it but at the same time I'm anxious to have her back for the weekend.

So funny story . . . I ran out of gas in my Neon yesterday. How the F should I know it maxs out at around 300 miles per tank. It was stupid of me but it literally put put put and died like 50 yards from the gas station. Yet the guy at the gas station didn't speak English and I couldn't get him to let me borrow a tank so ended up having to call and get a ride to another gas station. Good thing I was close to home or else it would have been crappy if I ran out on the bay bridge. $%@#$ Neons!

hahahah oh wells . . . good thing it didn't happen to Audrey. It can't be good for the engine.

Man, that stinks!

I know what you mean with regard to body shops though, especially with that much damage. My blog pretty much has a litany of complaints I had about the timing over at the shop that repaired Icy Z. They did a good job of the actual repair, but their expectations-setting was horrible, and they don't do very good followup.
