Default any local place selling Hawk HPS pads

I need to replace my rear pads ASAP but i dont want to keep using the brembos since they have so much brake dust. I hear the Hawk HPS have the same performance but with less dust. Does anyone know where i can purchase a set or just the rear locally? Im located in San Francisco. Thanks.

be informed that they do dust less, but they do squeak around town. They work fine around town, but I'm going to try a different pad for around town. I've got some Project Mu B-Force pads for the track, but have not tried them yet.

Yep. They deffinitely have less dust but squeek like a b*tch if you don't embed them properly. If you still decide to get them, make sure you properly break them in or prepare for the SQUE...EK!

I've also heard that they are hell on rotors. I 'll let you know when I replace mine for some other street brakes. You know, GTNPU Z, I did break them in properly with the alternating hard braking, etc....but about a week later, they started squeaking really bad. I at least thought I did it right??? I dunno. After a couple of track days, the squeaking died down, but so did the pads.

o snap its eric, go ahead and try them as they are moderately priced compared to other pads. I'm switching to something else. Oh yeah, don't forget that you will need a grinder when you install them because they don't fit quite right. Luckily I have a bench grinder and it only took seconds to do, but I didn't feel that confident in the pads from a manufacturer that can't even make a backing plate that fits in the caliper without modification.

Hey Dave,

Yeah, I had major squeeking until I went through the whole break in process. Not too worried about eating up my rotors since I went with the whole Stoptech Stage 2 setup ( I have the slotted rotors). Just make sure you get the "street" pads & not the "race" since it will definitely eat up your rotors if you don't have an aftermarket one that can take a beating from the special composite that the "race" pads are made of.

As far as the break in, I was told that the main thing you have to make sure is to allow these pads to form a thin layer of break pad residue over your rotors. I kept on going with the break in process until a dark smear appeared on my rotors. As soon as I did that, haven't had a squeek since. It's been well over a month now that I heard of any squeek but I'll keep you posted if I do. Did notice, however, that when it did sqeek, it mainly happened during cold/wet weather.
