^^ Hey Now, I run Bob's Performance, and I resent that remark!

All kidding aside, I'm with GTNPU Z... its all preference. There are a lot of good shops in the bay area. Some on this board are friends of ZCG, and some are friends with SP. There is no need to start an e-pissing match as to which shop will make your car better.

We don't need to defend these shops. Lets let their work speak for itself.

Just throwing in my .02...

If I need MAJOR work done to my car, I'm definitely going to ZCG or SP. If the mod/installation involved is more than what I can do in my garage, if it's beyond my experience, I'm going to take it to people who know what they're doing.

With that being said, I do not think spring, exhaust, brake installation, etc. qualifies as major work. As such, I am comfortable taking my car to a shop other than SP or ZCG.

I had my springs installed at another shop (which will remain nameless) for less than any of the prices mentioned in this thread. They did excellent work and I haven't had any issues with them. The installation itself is rather simple and something many people could do in their garage.

So why should I pay more for the same work? Where am I getting added benefit by taking it to one of the two above mentioned shops?

For FI work, I can see paying more. I'll gladly pay for the experience and reputation that ZCG or SP has. This is major work that not just any shop can do.

But spring installation? Provided that the shop has worked on Z's prior, how much can go wrong with the install?

Well you never know. Being that ZCG and SP are completely competent with the 350Z and may know certain nuances built into the Z that I probably don't know regarding suspention and handling, then I would feel more comfortable going to either one of them instead of Joe Blows performance shop. They drive the car every day and they are enthusiasts so that is part of what i would pay for knowingly so. They know what parts are right before they put them in and I do not and can't be sure a non Z shop would. Springs, it's not a major job and I could do it myself with a spring compressor but I don't like doing that job, so I wouldn't. I did install my own HawK HPS pads and Pop Charger but actually Danny at SP, now at ZCG, installed my Borla, did a top job too. I take my car to whom I trust, period.

i agreed with 2004z. For example, why would i have to pay $120/hour rate for either ZCG or Sp to replace the brake rotors & pad for me while i can do it at other place for half the price. Will that mean my brake rotor will fall off IF i don't bring in "qualify Z garage" I doubt it.

I think BOTH garages OVERCHARGE on labor rate just BECAUSE IT IS 350Z car. Yes, if the engine need to be fix or install FI then $120/hour made sense. They just don't think in the long term relationship. 7 years down the road, we will be their mainstream customer because when the Z getting shitty, we can't bring to "generic" garage to fix. Just seem to me both garages just want to get the most money they can now. Dont' look at the bigger picture later.

I was wondering when you would chime in, Mr. Looser. I knew you would though.

"Just shut the **** up and move on." My oh my did I say something you didn't like, Mr. Looser?

Dem's fight'n words, boy!! Good thing for you I am not a violent person. You should really think before you go all that extreme, sonny boy, one of these days you are going to use it on the wrong person. But I found it quite humorous, indeed.

40 year old men who still live with their mom aren't usually violent.

Keep in mind I have no interest in who is better or worse, I'm a cheep as heck and just do things myself as I see every dollar on going into labor as a dollar that is not going into parts and I consider the work part of my addiction, I mean hobby...

...but aren't 40 year olds who live with their moms the ones that go postal and shoot up the office because mom threw out their stash of girlie mags?

No, they are the ones that like little boys and are usually very passive and need to be told what to do.

Huh? Or maybe you are confused? But you are right that I am not violent anyway. Whatever you mean it was a nice try, I guess.
