What do you guys pay for insurance ? I'm curious... I'm 25 with a few points, paying about $2200 on east coast thru a business policy.

Also, will I have to retake emissions as soon as I get there, or will my tag be good until it expires ? I have a TT w/ straight pipes (no cats).

You have to let your tags expire. No way you'll pass smog here in Kalipornia.

 

Sweet, my tags are good for another 2 years or so.

I assume there are ways around the smog issues, since I won't be the only straight-pipe turbo monkey around?

 

No ways around smog issues here in Kalifornistan, if there is, my car will have triple/quad turbos already.

 

Romy, smog is every 2yrs., just fix for the day and then unfix for 2yrs. These guys are just lyZ.

Just to clarify, new cars bought prior to January 2005 smog exemption is 4 years. Beginning in 2005 a new car goes 5 years before smogging is required. So for all new car buyers that bought before Jan '05 you will be required to get smogged 4 years after your purchase date.

For any out-of-staters the move to Cali will require smogging at the time of Cali registration.
