Angry I'm MOVING to NorCal, Part 2...

Guys, I really need your help...

Last night, after waiting for a truck to come pick up my Z for the transport to Santa Clara's Scott Performance, the truck showed up, only 3.5 hours late. It was almost midnight, raining like crazy.

My friend and I came along to load the Z up. Since the bumper has just over 4" of clearance, I didn't think we'd have a problem. BOY was I wrong.

The driver, a Russian comrade, decided to ram into the truck's liftgate at about 15mph, smashing my front bumper and squeezing it so much that it almost exploded. Then he proceeded to throw it into 6th gear (what he thought was reverse), and squeeze it some more.

Words cannot explain the rage I experienced at this point.

MIRACULOUSLY, he backed up without any noticeable damage... then we tried to load the car in reverse, also failing miserably. The car is NOT lowered, but the elongated front bumper makes it almost impossible to enter without an angle.

Now the worst part is... this entire episode made me reconsider shipping the car altogether. The reason is simple... its not because I don't love the Z, I do. It's not because I don't want to drive it in sunny California -- I do. It's not because I don't want to deal with the hassle of passing smog in a turbo car, fixing the bluish smoke, and dealing with 91 octane.

The problem is... I plan on going to grad-school in Sept 2006... so do I really want to put myself through all these expenses and time just to wind up selling the car in a year anyway ?

I'm *this* close to just throwing it up on eBay before I move...

I really could use your advice, boys... I'm at a crossroads here.

And on the other hand... if I do ship, maybe someone can recommend a company that wouldn't f**k my car up during load/unload.

Damn... sorry to hear about the whole episode. I can't imagine watching that happen.
That truck driver is a fricken dumb ***!!! can't help you with the shipping co., why not ship the car with the bumper removed - ship seperately?

All things considered, I hear you on selling your car .

Sorry to hear that bro. At least nothing was seriously damaged. If you can't find a truck that will allow you to load the car with your bumper, I'd probably just remove the bumper like Z'd Up recommended. It'll be less of a headache plus you can always have SP put it back on for you as soon as they deliver it.

So I've decided to throw it up on eBay to test the waters.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=4554820885

If nobody snags it within the next 7-10 days, I'm gonna take it with me to Santa Clara and live happily ever after

Thanks for the love,

Romy.

Selling your baby seems like an extreme move just because one trucker was stupid and didn't come prepared. I hope in the meantime you are doing more research on finding a competent trucking outfit. You will really be able to enjoy the Z out here until you "have" to sell it.

Don't give up.

To be extra safe get ahold of some 2x6's to help get her up on the ramp.

While getting the car here is proving to be a pain, I think the bigger pain will be getting your turboed car smogged.

.....unless you have a plan in place already If so, please share it with me. I've just about given up modding my Z any further.

Thumbs up

Oh don't sell the car. Get it over here and enjoy the hell out of it. But you know you don't really have to turbo the car. Turbo is ultimate but hey it's just so expensive. Just put a good sounding exhaust on her and an intake. But you know what, SP now has the new Dastek dyno and they can set you up with a UNIchip "piggyback" computer. Ted can tune it on the dyno for some very decent gains, not turbo but what the hell. Just an idea.

Good Luck!!

EDIT:
Oh well excuse me!! I misunderstood before but just realized you are already turbo'd. That's great!!!
