Once in a lifetime deal
Geesh, I just bought the APS TT, but if I hadn't, I know what I would have done now. JameZ, you & I both know that it's not a sale, it's a giveaway at that price. I originally was going that way too. You should think on that one, Lou's is a screamin' eagle as we both know. I can't believe nobody has bought it yet.
2 Questions:
1. What does adding a turbo do to reliability? I plan on keeping my car a very long time and drive it every day.
2. Can the installation be done in a way that will prevent any & all smog issues, and if so what is the loss in potential RWHP (if any)?

FWIW -
It's a centrifugal supercharger actually...not a turbo.
Factors like: increased underhood temps, the amount you beat on your car after the install, how good of a tune you get and how well you keep your modified car maintained...will ultimately determine how long your engine lasts. Generally when you increase horsepower you're subjecting factory parts to more stress and they'll wear out sooner.
In terms of smog in California...you might be able to pass the sniffer portion with this kit if you have a good tune, all your smog devices are working and enough catalytics in place to clean up your exhaust stream. But you'll still need someone to ignore the fact that there's a supercharger staring at him when he does the visual. That's all it takes to fail smog around here.
And yes...with catalytics in place instead of the test pipes being sold in this thread you will lose horsepower potential.
hope that helps.

As to the heat, you could do a few mods to help with it also.
i.e. 1. Get a NISMO Low Temp Thermostat ($149.50)
2. Slip in a KOYO Z Radiator There's a group buy on now $360.00 + shipping
3. oil cooler kit, and ZCargarage even can make one and install it for you. It's the
great shop here in NorCal that has a great reputation. If you're in Fairfield,
that's not that far from San Jose, where they're located.
4. Could get a vented hood, a little expensive.....
But anyway, there's a few ways to help keep the engine running cooler, which in turn should help keep the temperature down.
For the price of the kit, you can't beat it anywhere that I've seen. If I wasn't going APS TT, I would have jumped on this. These are the same ideas I was given from a friend who is running APS TT now. James knows him too. I'm doing the same to my Z.
