Default embarcadero

do they serve alchohol at embarcadero during the new years eve party? we have only been here for a few months and dont know anything about new years parties down here. we are thinking of going to dinner at Ozumo and then going to embarcadero, but if they dont serve alchohol there, then we will get later reservations at ozumo and just stay there for the champagne toast.

help me out so i can make some reservations. any opinions are welcome and appreciated. thanks

They don't on the street as consumption of alcohol is illegal in public and the police presence is crazy. However there are plenty of bars and resteraunts within walking and cab distance. It is a fun time however the fire works are great. Id suggest get a hotel downtown near the embarc.

any bar recommendations? we werent able to get dinner reservations at ozumo so i think we might get reservations at Roys which is a little ways away... hopefully we can make it from roys to embarcadero in time for the fireworks.

we are unfamiliar with the pub trans system and we dont feel like driving down there that night.... are there any sites that will tell you how to get from one place to another (what trains/trolleys/etc)??

are there any better places to spend the new years? we thought about taking a dinner cruise with a full open bar (this one - http://sanfrancisco.about.com/gi/dyn...achtssf.com%2F )

I'll probably be at the embarcaderro but get smashed at home first... Bart is usually free on New Years eve... wouldn't advise driving to the city.

There is a party at the Hyatt regency which is right accross from the ferry building where everyone gets together.

I believe its $125 per person... not sure of all the details but I know en vogue is performing.
